Vehicle Overview
Hyundai expanded its lineup beyond mainstream vehicles in 2009 with the rear-wheel-drive Genesis — a car intended to emulate midsize luxury cars like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class for less money. Two years later, Hyundai added a sort of super Genesis in the Equus, an even larger sedan that aims at the BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS but at a lower price. The Equus comes in Signature and Ultimate trim levels, and both have a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
New for 2016
There’s a new hands-free, auto-open trunk lid for the Ultimate trim level. The keyfob only has to be within a few feet of the trunk for a few seconds for the trunk lid to open.
