Vehicle Overview

Hyundai expanded its lineup beyond mainstream vehicles in 2009 with the rear-wheel-drive Genesis — a car intended to emulate midsize luxury cars like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class for less money. Two years later, Hyundai added a sort of super Genesis in the Equus, an even larger sedan that aims at the BMW 7 Series and Lexus LS but at a lower price. The Equus comes in Signature and Ultimate trim levels, and both have a 5.0-liter V-8 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

New for 2016
There’s a new hands-free, auto-open trunk lid for the Ultimate trim level. The keyfob only has to be within a few feet of the trunk for a few seconds for the trunk lid to open.

Significant Standard Features

  • 429-horsepower, 5.0-liter V-8 engine
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Rear-wheel drive
  • Air suspension with adaptive damping
  • Adaptive xenon high-intensity-discharge headlights
  • LED fog lights
  • Power-folding heated side mirrors with approach lighting
  • Power moonroof
  • Leather upholstery
  • Power-adjustable heated and cooled front seats
  • 60/40-split, heated, power-reclining backseat
  • Keyless entry with push-button start
  • Leather dashboard, wood trim
  • Required in every new car: front airbags, antilock brakes and an electronic stability system

Significant Available Features

  • Forward corner-view camera
  • Auto-open power trunk lid
  • Power door closing
  • Head-up display
  • Power sunshades for rear side windows
  • Rear-seat lighted vanity mirrors
  • Rear-seat entertainment system with two screens

  • Very nice comfortable ride. A true luxury sedan.

Very nice comfortable ride. A true luxury sedan. We enjoy this car more than our Lexus 430 LS which I didn't think was possible. Very pleased with the ride, comfort and luxury of the Equus.

  • BEST car I’ve ever owned

This is an awesome vehicle. Packed with features. Stylish. Incredible “pick up”. Gets noticed wherever I go. Incredibly comfortable whether you’re the driver or a passenger. Hyundai hit a home run with this car. The Genesis series isn’t as good looking. They may have more technology because they are newer but the Equus is definitely classier. It’s only issues are “1970’s gas mileage around town 12-13 MPG but cruising on the highway I get around 27-30 MPG. Unfortunately in the snow it’s TERRIBLE!!!! Don’t believe those YouTube videos. Even with snow tires the traction is bad. It’s a southern states car for sure. For the money you can’t beat the value. I bought a 2015 Ultimate with 36K miles from a dealership for 35K I’ve owned Lincoln’s for the past 20 years I’ll NEVER go back

  • Not worth my Money unfortunately.

This car has pretty much lots of legroom in the Frint & back seats along with lots of boot space of Storage. However this car eats a lot of Gas but the performance is neat & Interior styling is good.

  • Tough to find qualified people to work on it

Vehicle is great. Finding someone to work on it is a nightmare. Service for luxury is non existent. Hyundai does not know the luxury market.

  • Best Customer Service!!!

I absolutely love my car, but better than that I love the service I recieved here. I went to 10+ different dealerships looking for my car. (Its a somewhat rare car) I made my purchase here because they had the best customer service. You know shopping for used cars there are too many sleazy used care salesmen. This place does not have those kind of people. :)

  • Makes you feel good...

I am particularly interested in both the handling and the comfort of the vehicles I own both great in the Equus. With excellent, clean lines, it is a large car, providing plenty of room for both front and rear passengers. Mine had an upgraded sound system--wonderful!--and could play both music and movie DVDs (movies only when the vehicle was not moving). Absolutely loved it...lol...but my 2017 Equus is even better, with a completely leather interior. Only thing I'm missing is the rear seat movie set-up...but I'm seldom out of the driver's seat, in any case, so that really doesn't matter. Hyundai has discontinued the Equus line, however, so I guess I'll be without a 2018 model...so disappointing, so disappointing...

  • Great Car Good Engineering Value for the money

I traded in my 2013 Grand Sport Corvette 430 Hp for the Equus Great deal for $6500. Took Equus on test track that I ran Corvette on and the car did great. Handled Curves fine speed was right up there pushed 125MPH had a lot to go ran out of road. Gas mileage is as good as corvette 29/32 at 1450 rpm 49 mph on Flat road. So far have 5400 miles on car O problems.
