"I bought this Hyundai Sonata LTD from a Hyundai dealer in Sept. 2010. It had 12K miles on it and I paid extra for the 100,000/10 yr "bumper-to-bumper" extended service contract. So far, the car has been 100% trouble free. It's a pleasure to drive. The 2.4 liter 4-cyl engine gives surprisingly good acceleration and it corners nicely ... for a family sedan. Excellent fuel economy (32 mpg hiway, 26 city). Tranny is not a smooth as I would wish, but certainly acceptable. Interior is VERY comfy and upscale-looking. The LTD model has lots of nice features: like seat heaters, dual climate control, upgraded sound system. Back seat & trunk are roomier than Camry and from seats are more comfortable."

"Purchased a 2009 Sonata new and have had "regular scheduled maintenance" performed at the required intervals and now have 24,000 miles on it. First problem was the engine would quit without any prior warning (warning lights) while idle at stop lights. Second issue was, and still is, "unknown reasons" why the clutch pedal (have a 5 speed) would go all the way to the floor on occassion while shifting gears up and down. Was told by the dealership the first two times it happened there was a problen with the slave cylinder and a problem with the clutch sleeve the third time. It has happened again since then. The final straw was the engine quit again while at a stop light, and once more it was towed to the dealership and they informed me 5 separate sensors on the engine weren't talking to each other or the ECM. The "technician" later said the cam shaft sensor was the possible culprit and he was uncertain if there was intermal engine damage. I would not recommend this vehicle for anyone who is looking for fairly descent and reliable transportation. Yes it may be a fairly new model with options available but if a vehicle is offered for the motoring public, then the issues and problems need to be worked out first if the manufacturer wants to keep their customer base."

"I used to drive Hondas, until I bought my first Sonata in 2004. The quaklity and value can't be beat. I bougt a 2006 GLS, and now own a 2009. Hyundai builds a phenomanal product. My 2009 has 175 HP, yet I am getting 38MPG at a steady 64 MPH with the air ON! The car looks great, runs great, and I've had ZERO problems. What else can you ask for?"

"This vehicle is the best ride I have been able to find. Looks and quality is in the Lexus, Acra, range. The ride is quite enough that at times you cannot hear the vehicle traveling on a good highway."

"General: Boring, reliable, comfortable, good initial value, horrible resale value. OK if you plan to keep forever, lousy if you intend to trade or sell within 3 years. Pro: Very good initial build quality. Reliable. Willing performer. Good warranty terms. Good stereo. Comfortable rear seats. Con: Terrible resale value. Boring to drive. Clunky suspension lousy road noise insulation. Balky auto tranny. Clicking in shifter Park lock-out. Spongy throttle response. Squeaks and rattle demons around front passenger area. Non-folding rear view mirrors. Weird Navigation voice ("St." = "saint"!) Expensive routine O&F maintenance. Honking requires remove hand from wheel grip."
