Consumer Reviews
"I was looking for something the same size as my '04 Honda Civic, with good mileage, and Hyundai's warranty appealed to me. I was first interested in the Elantra, but test-driving it, I felt it was bigger than I wanted. Hyundai seems to have made each redesign a few inches bigger, and what I really wanted was something more compact. So I test-drove the Veloster and preferred its size and handling. It is basically a sportier looking cousin to the Elantra, but with comparable MPG and options. The Accent is the right size too, but would require more add-ons (expense) to get up to the level of the base model Veloster. After driving it for a few months, I have mostly enjoyed it. The rear window is small, as are the rear side windows, so that is something to get used to. The third door is a big plus, since I still feel like I'm driving a compact, but one that adult-size backseat riders can get into and out of. The mileage display is impossible to miss, which is annoying just because my particular commute makes it impossible to get above 30 MPG. The XM radio trial is nice, but I'm not sure I'll extend it once the free trial ends. Pretty much exactly what I was looking for. So far, so good."

"Purchased this car with the style package to replace my non-fuel efficient SUV and am extremely happy I did. Car drives great even though it lacks the power to take off at the line. The technology is fairly intuitive and the touch screen is outstanding. Other manufacturers should take a look at how Hyundai has done this because it is something that is frequently messed up (you hear that Ford?). The car gets great fuel economy and man does it turn some heads. I swore I'd never say this about a car but I think I may love it!!!"

"The main thing this car has going for it is looks and appeal to people who think a toyota corolla or honda accord is either sexy or fast. It's performance is pretty pathetic, although it handles well. Hyundai in my opinion and experience has done a great job with longevity and reliability in the last 5-8 years so that is a plus. However, a lot of that came from using Chrysler World Engines for their 4 cylinder cars. (This engine is also an evolved World Engine.) It is decent enough a car, but for the price 2012 and 2013 vehicles are plenty to match it and they tend to provide more performance, and in some cases even better handling. If there is a car to buy in this price range (or a little less) that does all the same things but is more cool and has more get-up-and-go it's probably either the new Dodge Dart (2013) or the Chevy Sonic (smaller car). The Ford Focus or Fiesta should also be considered. Only other cars that remain in the same price point for features and size would be Kia or possibly Nissan...both of which I would look at before settling on the Veloster just because it's more cool looking."

"Enjoying my Veloster so far, its only been a couple of months. The handleing is amazing all though the jump off the start is not. The features on the car are great and I love the gas milage. I researched for months and this is the best car in its class( cost, specs, gas milage, features and looks)."

"I have the Vitamin C with the style package and I love it. It's fun to drive, turns heads and gets great gas mileage. It's affordable, performs well and loaded "toys", what more can anyone ask for?"

"I was initially concerned about two things (slow acceleration, and no spare tire). Both of these issues made me think twice about the vehicle. However, it drives exceptionally well, and has more features than any other similar vehicle. I have the Style Package, and for the extra $2000, I got a lot of luxury items. I highly recommend getting the Style Package. As far as acceleration, it's true that it isn't first off the line (my Dad's 2006 Corolla accelerates faster). However, once I'm out of 2nd or 3rd gear, I don't notice any performance issues. I haven't had a lot of highway experience with it yet, but if it performs similarly to the city driving, I'll be very happy. I was also standoffish about not having a spare. But other manufacturers are starting to do this too (to save weight for fuel economy), and it comes equipped with a patch kit and pump (and Hyundai has great roadside assistance). If I end up doing a lot of long distance driving, perhaps I'll get a spare and a jack. Right now, I'm rocking around 32 mpg, and that is with virtually no highway driving. Overall, I'm very pleased with the vehicle. The blind spots are a bit rough, but I'm getting used to them. But for the money, I couldn't find a vehicle with as many amenities or visual appeal as this one. It's also worth mentioning that it has a HUGE storage capacity and great safety measures."

"We now have 1800 miles on it. It is a fine around town car. I believe the twin clutch transmission shift points could be smoothed out. Stearing is good, Brakes are sensitive. Rear view is a little difficult. I added a convex mirror to the left hand mirror to improve visabilty of passing cars. Disapointed in not being told that there was no spare tire. Mileage is as advertised. Tight body, very little wind noise."

"Why buy a Prius when you can give up a few miles a gallon and get the best bang for buck in the compact market? The Veloster is everything its marketed to be. It's a head-turner on the road, and it dominates in the efficiency game at 40 MPG. Of course, you've got to give up a bit of horsepower to get that mileage, but the Veloster has plenty of pep for the onramp and in traffic. In short, the Veloster is unique in the market with it's three full door design, dramatic shape, and incredible technology package, all for under $23,000 fully loaded."

"car has many features that come standard that would be extra on other vehicles . Car drives very nice and handles well. Pick up is ok , but your not going to win any races with it . The 40 mpg is one of the best features of the car along with the a/v system . Would recommend to anyone looking for a compact car ."
