"This is a great auto. The faster you go the better it handles. By far the best buy in a sports car for your dollar compared to BMW and Audi. Be very carefull of the 2.5. The trans will go on all of them and this is right from the Jag dealer. When I bought mine I did not listen to the mechanic and bought the 2.5 instead of the 3.0 because the price was better. What a mistake,a bearing in the transfer case went at 40,000 miles. Lucky for me it was on warranty. It took 4 weeks to get another in as there were so many being changed that they were on back order. The way to go is with the 3.0 with the sport package. This is hard to find as they are such good cars that no one wants to get rid of them. Best chance is to ask the dealer if one is coming off a lease and for them to let you know when it arrives. You won't be sorry. My wife was driving ours in Canada and she was doing 100 and I told her she better watch there are no cops around or she would be thrown in jail. She forgot the speedo was in miles not km. Runs all right on low blend but sure purrs on the high grade gas, that is the only down fall at 1.00 per litre."

"I bought my used X-type 3.0 with a 5 speed manual 8 months ago. The car had 102,000kms and was pampered by the original owner. I have put 18,000kms with few issues and three oil changes(dealer purchased Jag filters and Synthetic oil, as recommended by my mechanic). This is a beautiful car and there are many aftermarket upgrades available(I have installed a mesh grille and colour coded centre caps for the wheels). I have experienced a few electrical gremlins, but they were one-offs as they have not returned. Driving in our Canadian winter was a breeze with the AWD. It is a real head turner in carnival red and tan leather. These are great cars, but you have to do your homework not to get stuck with a lemon as I have read in other reviews. The 5 speed manual is the only way to go on a performance/sports car."

"I bought the car with 40,000 miles on it. I have had no problems at all with this car and it now has 57.000 miles. Beside regular maintainance the only thing I've had to do is replace the battery and tires. Living in Michigan, I bought this car because it has all-wheel drive. This is the only aspect of this car that has not lived up to my expectations. While driving in snow, the car takes-off good, but it doesn't stop well. When cornering it seems to slide sideways very easily. I have even tried to remedy this by putting Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires on it ($200+/ea) to not much avail. I probably drive slower in winter because of this, so that is not necessarily a bad thing. But it can be a white knuckle ride!"

"The Jaguar X-type 2.5 has been a fun, reliable car to drive for four years. There have been mechanical difficulties such as a section of the side mirror falling off, the interior rubber trim of the driver and passenger door falling off, molding of the battery terminals, and other things. These have been only minor difficulties. The rest of the car is phenominal. Engine power is plentiful, it handles excellently, and the interior is gorgeous! This car beats driving a minivan!"

"My first car ever, i choose this over a Mustang because of the charm of my British Car Salesman. Although i am annoyed with the Taurus comparisons since it is made by Ford also thus sharing the body frame of a Ford Contour and having similar issues as it. Not to mention, the Jag critics calling it anything less of a true Jaguar. The Car is a profound driving machine for its price. I paid $17k for it. This is my first year with "her", i am impressed outside of the minor issues i had with her in the beginning: Original transmission died, Control module malfunc, and a couple of flat tire incidents but performs well especially with AWD. To me she can outperform any Honda, Nissan or Acura when she purrs on the road. She lives up to the luxurious british tradition of its namesake regards of the Ford input."

"I bought my 2003 X-type Jaguar used. I have never enjoyed a vehicle as much as I have this car. All the control on the dash are within easy reach and the cruse control and radio controls on the steering wheel are great. I really enjoy the leather interior. I would recommend this car to anyone wanting a entry level premium car"
