Vehicle Overview

The XF is Jaguar's entrant in the luxury sport sedan segment, and it's available with all-wheel drive for 2013 and also comes with a choice of new engines. A high-performance XFR version is offered. Competing models include the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

New for 2013

A new 240-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 340-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6 are offered for 2013, and both engines team with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Models with the supercharged V-6, which replaces the normally aspirated 5.0-liter V-8 engine, can be fitted with Jaguar's new all-wheel-drive system. XFs with a supercharged engine also get a new fuel-saving stop-start system while the high-performance XFR can have an optional Speed Package that includes suspension and aerodynamic tweaks and a 174-mph top speed.

Besides the powertrain changes, the navigation and entertainment systems receive upgrades, and a Meridian premium stereo is available.

Exterior

Distinctive characteristics include a sculpted hood and prominent trim surrounding the side windows. The XF has front fender vents similar to those on the automaker's XK sports car. The XF's rear features taillights that incorporate LEDs. Exterior features include:

  • Standard 18-inch wheels; 19- or 20-inch wheels available
  • Trunk lid spoiler, hood vents and side sill extensions (XFR)
  • Four tailpipes, special 20-inch wheels and a more aggressive front end with large chrome-ringed lower-bumper vents (XFR)
  • Available automatic high-beam headlights

Interior

The XF's interior combines traditional cues with contemporary touches, like a rotary knob in the center console that serves as a gear selector. When the engine is started, the knob rises out of the console, and closed air-conditioning vents rotate to the open position. The XF also uses proximity sensors in place of switches or handles for the reading lights and glove compartment lid — a wave of the hand does the trick. Interior features include:

  • Standard leather upholstery
  • Standard heated front seats; heated windshield and heated steering wheel available
  • Standard wood trim
  • Available ventilated front seats
  • Available power rear sunshade
  • Available navigation system

Under the Hood

Mechanical features include:

  • Standard 240-hp, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine
  • Optional 340-hp, supercharged 3.0-liter V-6
  • Optional 470-hp, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8
  • Optional 510-hp, supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 (XFR)
  • Standard rear-wheel drive; all-wheel drive available with supercharged V-6
  • Eight-speed automatic transmission
  • Faster steering ratio and larger brakes on XFR

Safety

Safety features include:

  • Standard front-seat side-impact airbags and curtain airbags for front and rear side-impact protection
  • Standard active front head restraints
  • Standard antilock brakes
  • Standard electronic stability system
  • Optional backup camera
  • Optional adaptive cruise control
  • Optional blind spot warning system
  • Optional collision warning system
