"I've only had by Commander 2 months but I like it alot!! A couple little things but me like the driver seat is not as comfy as I thought it would be, not alot of leg room in second row of seats. But it does drive very smooth. I finally figuered out all the gadgets and they work great, even the ones on the underneath of the steering wheel LOL. My biggest gripe is the gas mileage and the pick up. I think next time I will get a grand cherrokee."

"I have owned 9 Jeep products ranging from a Wagoneer, Cherokee, Liberty, 5 Wranglers and finally the Jeep Commander. When it was first debuted, it was my dream car. I love Jeeps and never thought I would own anything else. I never had a problem with any of them, until I bought my Commander. It was a 2006 model and I did buy it used, but I bought it in 2006 and it only had 6k miles. When it had 37k miles, a transmission seal went out. I had to fight with the dealership to warranty it. Then in 2009, the entire a/c went out. I live in the south and had an infant, so I had no choice but to have it fixed. The local dealer quoted me $1,500. They said Chrysler would not help in any way. A few months later I spent $380 on a new alternator and battery. Four moths after that incident, I was driving home with my infant son and the car began to overheat. I had to pull over on the side of the road, get a ride and have the vehicle towed. The water pump had gone out and the dealership charged me $550 to replace it. This happened a few days before Christmas! It just never seemed to run right. I could sit at a stop light and it would shake and the rpms would drop and the vehicle would almost shut off."

"i find the consumer reviews so funny because 90% our from people who had the car for less than six months. i have had my 2006 jeep commander for close to 6 years( bought dec 2005) it was the cheapest 6000 ton pulling vehicle so i could get the tax write off at the time. Thanks mr. Bush. Anyway six years later have had almost no problems...the starter and the remote key..that is about it and we now have 100k on the car. The only negative is the third row seat. Do not back up with it up .. if you do better have someone manually out there looking for you. Total blindspot. The fit and feel is close to Mercedes who owned Chrysler at the time. Gas is so high easily can get a good deal on them If you value life it is nice to have one of these in a snow storm.."

"We bought our Commander Pre owned from our dealer at 38,000 miles. We also bought a limited warranty contract. This Jeep has had one problem after another. Faulty seals, tire pressure sensors, starter, etc. This vehicle has not had anything catastrophic, however, it has nickle-and-dimed us to death. We put over $2500 in repairs into it in the last two years and of course the warranty says it will cover only parts "lubricated by oil" (something to read before you sign the warranty paperwork *worthless*). I also believe that the V6 is a little underpowered for the size of vehicle. Expect approximately 17-18 mpg. We still own a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee that we have driven over 200,000 miles and love the Jeep brand. However, I sincerely believe that the Commander is a flawed platform (hence, discontinued)."

"Since we've been married 7 years, we have owned 3 Jeeps-2 Cherokee's and now our Commander. Jeep is absolutely one of the most reliable SUV's on the market, and the only SUV we'll drive. We traded our first Cherokee for a newer model, and then when needed extra seating, we upgraded to the '06 Commander. We love it...nothing bad to say whatsoever! We did have a couple small issues, the biggest being the starter needed replacing, as we found out alot of the 2006 models had problems with them, so we replaced it and haven't had a problem since! Had it 2 years now, and couldn't be happier, except with gas prices being so high and this thing is a gas guzzler. It does GREAT on the snow, mud...as SD winters make for awful driving conditions, I am so glad to have this to keep us safe. It drives like a dream, and we love the 2 extra seats in the way back for little ones. We have moon and sun roofs, and everyone loves it. Five stars for this Commander. Just wish they hadn't stopped making them. What a disappointment because we would have kept buying them...love the 7 seat option."

"the commander is a great value . Drives like a mercedes, never had one problem. total luxury for the price. it is heaven in the snow. need 4 wheels and 7 passenger nothing is better. However there are three big negatives: 1) gas mileage get 12 if lucky combined city/highway. 2) not alot of space for the size 3) two many blind spots. if you back up with third row sits up you are commiting suicide!"

"Feel very comfortable driving it. Other car us an '04 Corvette convertible. As weather gets bad, this car comes off the road, and THE 'Commander' takes over transportation duties. Very mush enjoy both cars. Commander gives good comfortable, safe feeling with roomyness and visibility. Drive cars differently, as they have different purposes. Have the 'base' model Commander with small six cylinder. Performance not bad considering weight of the vehicle. Have not yet felt unsafe in traffic due to engine power, jus plan diferent. Uses lots of (regular) gas. Corvette does better on MPG! Working to up the MPG on Commander. Starting with the intake. Should be able to improve MPG and performance simultaneously. Sturdy vehicle. Feel safe transporting my loved ones in it. Very responsive steering. Like the look, very rugged. Try one, you will probably buy it if you can get it at the price you are willing to pay. They are in demand, and appear to hold their value."
