Consumer Reviews
"I bought this SUV to travel and put 5000 miles on it in the first 60 days. It has done extremely well. I was able to get almost 25 mpg on the V-8 for a couple of tanks of gas driving across the country when I was careful. I was surprised with the handling and the sensitivity to tire pressure. When I increased the tire pressure to help with mileage I felt every little bump and it didn't help with the mileage. I does well at the 32psi called for on the door. I still haven't figured out everything on the Limited EX version but my grand kids tested a lot of the features."

"We bought a 2009 Borrego after checking out a lot of other SUVs with third row seating. We've had it for about 2.5 months now and we love it just as much as the day we bought it. It has everything we wanted and most of all it didn't cost an arm and a leg. We have 2 kids under 4 and the car seats fir in the back with no problem. We have a dual jogging stroller that fits in the back with ease and we still have room for all our groceries. The car has 3 different power outlets, great ground clearance, and with over 250hp the pick-up seems to be better than average. The only two drawbacks I have found so far is that a) I don't like the angle of the headrests, so I flipped 'em backwards. FIXED. b) You have to open the entire back every time. You can't just open the glass. Oh well, my buddy has a Nissan Armada and we compare our cars all the time. He loves his car and for the $45K+ he paid, he should. I'm more than happy with my similarly equipped Borrego that I got for $15,500!!"

"I rented a Borrego in early 2010 for two weeks having never considered buying one for myself. Needed the cargo space and it looked huge....which it is. I've had Mercedes, Jeep, BMW & Range Rover SUV's since the early 90's....and this one may be the best. It has the largest cargo and the best value. Bought used in April 11 with only 9500 miles with leather and power seats for only $19,000! Imported to Panama where I needed a large SUV. This car is still sold in Canada and many other areas of the world so parts should not be a problem. I am very pleased, and the gas mileage is pretty great!"

"One of the worst cars to drive and own for $30,000. I could not believe why and how my parents ended up buying this car. In a car, steering, handling, comfort and ride have to be at least decent on a 30 grand car. This car however, lacks in all departments. The car handles like a drunk elephant. For example, when you are coming on to a right angle turn, the steering wheel still steers, but the front wheels do not turn enough on time to actually complete the turn. Also, there is some horrible understeer. The reliability on these automobiles also are poor, the electrical components all failed at one point. The interior lights one after the other, went off. The CD player doesn't eject CD's properly, DO NOT GO 4 WHEELING in this vehicle, this is a pseudo SUV. THE TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON EVERY TIME when leaving hard turns for example, leaving a steep drive way you have to gently gas the car other wise TC will come on and cut the gas... Also, The comfort is harsh and the steering is as boaty as a 60's buick. Please save your money, go for the Honda Pilot or a german built SUV.... DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. THE v6 alone drains gas.... 20 dollars isnt enough to reach half tank. POOR BUILD QUALITY. My friends nick name this car the "gerbil" because of how wobbly and unpredictable this car is. Forget about it in the snow.. The wheels will keep on spinning and the TC will always be holding you back to your destination. I recommend buying this car if you are looking to trash it the day you purchase it. Other than that, DO NOT BUY THE CAR. SAVE YOUR MONEY BUY A GERMAN for 30 grand. You buy M-B's. BMW's. Audi's for that price range. I had cloth interior, wow... very disappointed in all aspects."

"You are hard pressed to find another 7 passenger SUV with a V8 for the price and loaded with great features! The Honda Pilot is a close second but prices in about $10K more; which is a lot of money to seat 1 more person!"

"Other than the less-than-expected gas mileage with the V6 engine (it's now consistently getting 20-21 on the freeway), the Borrego quickly went into the top three of cars I've owned (alongside my late, lamented '01 Nissan xTerra and '92 Ford Probe). It's proving to be exactly what I'd looked for as a replacement for my '07 Jeep Commander: lighter, more power, better handling, better visibility, still has the third-row seat and, like the Jeep, doesn't get stuck. The selectable 4Hi/4Lo is an added bonus, the vehicle has outstanding traction and control in rain, snow and occasional ice. Regret Kia pulled it from the market after only one year but then again, I know own a somewhat rare (dare I say "exclusive?") vehicle."

"I purchased my '09 V-8 Limited brand new in exchange of my Jeep Commander (a real LEMON) last year, and really I am fully satisfied with its performance and reliability. Using the sports shift (Triptonic) is a plus and no lag at all and drives like a sports car. Confort is okay being a true SUV with a rail chassis and not like those uni-framed SUV around. This is a body on a chassis which is suitable for hauling, towing or pulling twice the Borrego's weight. A V-8 engine compliments its overall performance as a true SUV comparable to the VW Toureg, Porsche Cheyene and Lexus 470 SUV's less the cost. There is a big difference on its brother, the V-6 Borrego for performance and also some options. The Limited V-8 is relible on all weather conditions as I had drove in and out for a year in the windy city of Chicago. Having used it with more than 4,000k, no problem had ever evolved whatsoever, not like my previous junk, the Jeep Commander, no wonder they quit making it. The only thing I see that KIA missed was the rear hatch which should have been automatic at a push of a button. Other than that, everything is fine with me as I had expected for an SUV and tow a boat during summer. For short, I LOVE MY BORREGO."

"Over the past weekend we were on our way to look at Kia Sorentos and ended up at a completely different dealership then planned and at this dealership was a 2009 Kia Borrego. I had never heard of this before, we test drove and fell in love. The only thing that we didn't pay much attention to was that it was rear wheel drive we found this out later when I was looking at paperwork. However it still does great in the snow, my husband had a time getting used to it but he has only ever driven 4 wheel drive or front wheel drive in the snow. I had no problems in the snow but have driven rear wheel drive in the past. Absoultley love it! It feels like you are driving a luxury/sports car instead of a SUV. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT. I heard this model is no longer available. To bad because it is a great SUV."
