"I bought a 2013 Optima LX with convenience plus package 3 weeks ago. Almost as soon as I drove it off the lot I started to experience problems with the UVO system and the door locks. I checked out some Kia forums and lots of other people having been having the same issue with the UVO dating back to 2011. It works when it wants to work which is hardly ever. Why isn't Kia doing anything to improve the reliability of the UVO system? I was also charged an extra $450 by the dealer for a protection package. Included in that package were door guards. The back doors rub on the guards on the front doors and makes a squeak and has left rub marks. I complained to the dealer about that and they said they are aware of the problem. But yet they install it before purchase so you have no say if you don't want to pay for the squeaky doors. I'm still waiting for a new UVO system that the dealer ordered for me. I'm also waiting for my door locks to be fixed. Dealing with the squeaky doors for now. This car has been nothing but headaches, but it looks nice. Looking nice is about all it has going for it. My other car is a 2013 Toyota 4runner. I wish I would have bought another Toyota."

"I love everything about this car, its amazing on gas, stunning to look at, has all the gizmos of an expensive luxury car, car handles like a gem, and for that price you cant beat it. There only reason that I wouldn't recommend this car is so that no one could steal my swag. ..... also must get the EX leather is the way to go"

"I like the car its very nice but the dealer where i got it from worst experience ever do not like the dealer. I would recommen the car but the dealer in lubbock texas far from it."

"Moved from an '03 Infinity G35 to an Optima EX w/ Premium package. Doesn't move like a G but expected that. Didn't expect a 2.4L to move like this one does though! And at 25 average MPG and 31 MPG highway it's a no brainer to move into this vehicle at almost half of what a G goes for today. Extremely satisfied!!!"

"I purchased a 2013 Optima EX with the premium pkg in early March. Haven't put a lot of miles on it yet, but really love this car. Researched it against, Camry, Accord, Altima, Malibu, and Fusion. I test drove them all and it was no contest. Inside the KIA is much plusher with its Panaramic sunroof, backup camera, heated and cooled front seats, power passenger seat, power folding outside mirrors, great Infinity Sound system, heated rear seats and steering wheel Microsoft's UVO system and of course great leather seats. All this for less than $24,000. Unreal! I have to pinch myself everytime I get in it."

"We looked long and hard at the new Ford Fusion, the Chevy Malibu, the Buick Regal, the Honda Accord, the 2014 Mazda6 (which we've had three previous models), the Hyundai Sonata, and the KIA Optima. It finally came down to the Mazda6 & the KIA and the KIA won out for comfort. My wife has back trouble and I have back & leg problems and a few minutes in the Mazda6 made her back hurt. We then drove the Optima and within minutes her back quit hurting. When we compared all of the other features, the KIA won out, despite some very good features on the Mazda6. If you like the seats, it's a very good alternatively, BUT the Optima is so well put together, so luxurious, so filled with features, right down to the little things like power folding mirrors and ventilated front seats and heated seat front & back, to the separate switch for the vanity mirror light so you can use the mirror without the light if you want. The memory power seats and the sound system are fantastic and easy to use, as well as the passenger power adjustable seat. Well, I could go on and on, but you get the idea. It's not a perfect car, but it's pretty darn good for this 66-year old. We bought the SXL model so it has the turbo and the paddle shifters and all the other goodies, including NAV, but KIA seems to really want to sell cars right now, so if you shop carefully you can find what we thought was a very good price, with a decent trade which saved us having to do it ourselves. I know mileage is a factor for many and it is for us, too, but I will give the car a while to break in and remember that it's the guy behind the wheel who really determines the MPG. I think the ECO setting will be very helpful, but the best advice is to keep your foot off the pedal unless you really need to get around someone, or you just want to show your friends what a 2.0 liter motor can do these days. Just be aware that it all takes gas and "Curb Your Enthusiasm," as the cable show says. KIA has made a major step forward and we look forward to years of enjoying this beautiful automobile. "I bought my Optima LX 7 months ago and driving this car is a pleasure indeed. As far as aesthetic value, this car is strikingly attractive! I honestly believe it's the best looking mid-size sedan in its class, leaving Accord LX, Camry, Sonata, 328i, Fusion, et al. to shame. The interior design is also impressive with a smart dash embedded with a myriad of controls, buttons and automatic features for your driving experience. My only qualm is that the seat fabric is a bit cut-rate for the LX. Consider springing a few dollars more for the leather interior on an EX or SLX. The ride handles quietly and smoothly. The 2.4 Liter I4 engine provides adequate power and speed for the average driver where you have good mid-range torque and acceleration. The MPG promised at 24/35 is a bit Optima-istic. Depending on how you drive and if you have a light or heavy foot you should expect no more than an accumulative MPG of 27 overall. I think the new Optima design has taken a quantum leap from its previous image and will soon be compared to Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Acura, Volvo, Audi, Infinity and others. This car gets a big 'Thumbs Up'!"

"Handle nicely. Great gas milage. Love the heated steering wheel.. A very welcoming vehicle, welcomes me with my preferred seat position, and when i turn it off, it even says good bye. the eco is great for MPG . the cooling seats function will be perfect for summer. the options on this car are standard. Thanks Kia for making such a nice care within my budget"

"I believe the MPG is over rated. I can't get the kind of miillage that Kia says that is the reason I think it is over rated"
