"This car is roomy for passengers as well. Wish it had more cargo space so I wouldn't have to remove both bike wheels. Better yet, it should come with optional hitch for bike rack in the back. It's taken 6000 miles for the fuel mileage to get 24 mpg in the city of las Vegas. Of course I drove from New York to Nevada and averaged 27 mpg which was far from the 34. I drove speed limit on interstates with the air on and not 50 mph."

"We bought the 2012 Soul ! after test driving the previous years models. The power assisted steering and 6 speed automatic transmission made the 2012 a much nicer ride. We went with the ! model because it had the backup camera. The fact that they don't offer more choices for interior colors bothered me a little bit, but the price/value made it less of an issue. I like the look of the 18" wheels, but I fear they make the ride a little more stiff. They also don't include an 18" spare since the well does not fit that size tire. They do give you fix-a-flat and a tire pump which came in handy on our first trip."

"test driving the soul made me a believer. i made it clear what i wanted as far as color, features and especially payment and stuck to my guns. by having a specific plan as far as what you as the consumer want, and not giving in to high pressure tactics, sales tricks or hoopla; i was able to stick to my budget and stay true to myself. i left each dealership knowing that I was in charge and what a wonderful feeling that is."

"I purchased this car in June 2012, driving 180 miles to get the one I wanted, and am thrilled that I did. Being 6-3, it's hard to find a car that I can fit into. Not a problem with this one. It looks small, but looks are deceiving. The seats are comfortable, lots of head room, the dials and buttons are well placed. The wiper blade control is counterintuitive, but I'm getting used to it. Gas mileage isn't what the EPA estimated, but it's fun to drive, has lots of power, and can be parked in small spaces. I've read some reviews that complain about "blind spots", but after spending a little time adjusting the mirrors correctly, that wasn't a problem. The UVO sound system is really good, but would be perfect with higher quality speakers to take advantage of the HD quality Sirius XM system. The new, larger engine seriously outperforms the smaller one, and is worth getting. The 6 speed automatic trans is a little sluggish when accelerating slowly and could use a little reworking, but not a deal breaker. All in all, a really great car at a much lower price, for the features, than you'd expect to pay. The styling makes it a real head turner!"

"A few weeks ago my car broke down so I needed a rental, I went to the rental place and all they had was a soul and a six year old Taurus, so I chose the soul... I chose wrong, to start with its very ugly but I would be able to look past it's hidiousness if it weren't for the electrical problems. The radio went haywire several times and the ac didn't work well at all witch was a nightmare in Florida where I live. The seats were very uncofortable and the engine was dreadfuly under powered. The gear changes were painfuly slow and it was all around awful to drive. The push botton start didn't work after a few days of renting it and I ended up having to call the rental place and they replaced it with a dodge charger it was much better and one of the best cars I have ever driven, but the soul is by far the worst car I've ever driven. I think Kia doesnt care about machanical quality and focuses most of there resources on design, and no educated person has any excuse to buy one."

"We bought this car new recently and have really been pleased. It is very easy to get into and out of which is a real positive for elders compared to some of the small cars we have ridden in. Interior comfort is surprising except for the lack of lumbar support. We have had five full grown adults in it for a short hop without much crowding. We drive a combination of local and highwy. I have gotten a low of 26.5 and a high of 36.8 mpg. As in any car you have to have a light foot to get the claimed mileage but it is possible if you drive conservatively. The price was one of our incentives plus the high safety rating and the styling compared to others in its class."

"Yes, I gave this vehicle 5 stars all the way. It is a terrific price, easy handling, driver sits up high enough that view is not blocked when a SUV pulls along side, pin point turning radius, plenty of storage/hauling room, and small enough to park anywhere. The bright red color is so cute, too. May daughter has the 2010 Alien Green Kia Soul + and loves her's as much as I love my 2012 Molten Red Kia Soul +. This vehicle is a Perfect vehicle in both years !!"

Kia Soul 2012 Exclaim with Homelink vs Civic EX-L

"I have been a Honda buyer for 30 years. So you can imagine the level of trepidation I had about buying a Kia. However, so far I have been quite delighted with the Kia Soul 2012 Exclaim with Navigation that I bought for my daughter. The 5 year warranty on most things, plus the level of additional equipment I got compared to a Honda Civic EXL with navigation was enormous. I had to pay MSRP because these cars were in such short supply. But even at MSRP, the on-the-road price of the Soul Exclaim was the same as the Civic EX-L with navigation and the Soul had a rear view camera, Homelink with compass and privacy glass which the Civic simply did not have. The major issue I had with the Soul is that I coud not use my standard Apple USB iPhone cord to charge my iphone. You have to buy a special cable from Kia for this. Also, unlike the Civic, the Soul does NOT display the iPhone Music menu (playlists, songs, albums, etc.) on the navigation screen. I have to manage this from my iPhone itself. Additionally the Soul: a) DOES NOT have an Audible Low Fuel Indicator Beep like the Civic. You have to visually keep your eye on the dash board to see the Low Fuel Indicator light come on b) Does NOT have a vehicle security system that the Civic EX-L comes with as standard c) COMES with much larger and BETTER tires than the Civic or CR-V. My 2010 CRV-EX-L's tires wore out in less than 36,000 miles. Appears Honda is simply not what they used to be though I still love the way they drive versus the Soul. d) has SAME or BETTER crash test and safety scores than the Civic e) The Honda engine and driveabilty at any speed is still unbeatable by the Soul. But the Soul drives very well and is definitely better value for the money"
