"I have had the Sportage for a year now, and for a lower end priced SUV, it has been reliable and very nice to drive."

"LX V-6 Auto 2WD .Bought it in November 06 and am pleased. Brakes are not as responsive as I would like, they require extra pedal-force to decelerate from higher speeds. There seems to be no convenient way to turn on interior lights from the dash. You have to reach overhead. Other than that, it's a handsome vehicle, roomy, with an easy rear seat fold-down procedure. Most everyone is impressed. A lot of the Kia dealers are new, so beware of snags in the sales process. I should add that seat comfort and leg room, along with great visibility, were among the reasons I chose the Sportage."

"Just bought a new 2006 sportage on December 27th......got a great deal on a totally loaded model. I'm not driving this vehicle a lot because I want to keep it pristine looking for a few years, so I avoid parking in close in malls, shopping plazas, etc. etc. Have had a few people ask me what make and model it was......found that most of them didn't know KIA had a "Looker" at this price in its' inventory. Most of my driving had been mixed city/highway and mpg has been about 19.6 and I'm not a lead foot at take-offs and I let vehicles coast to stop-lights to avoid excessive gas usage. I hope the mpg gets higher as I do more highway driving. Otherwise, I'm VERY impressed with the Sportage. It looks and drives great. My initial passion was for a Toyota RAV4, but the local dealer and I were $500.00 apart on a price and they wouldn't budge. KIA came in over four grand cheaper and it feels like driving a RAV4. Look forward to growing old with my KIA Sportage!!!!!!"

"My wife and I purchased this vehicle after test driving many vehicles for 3 weekends in a row. She hates to car shop and was about to have a nuclear meltdown if we test drove further vehicles. We narrowed the choices down to 8 vehicles. The Kia was always at the top of the list. The performance, ride, comfort, handling, and price made the choice easy and we decided that it was the suv for our family. We have 2 teens and a ten year old at home who all play soccer, run track, build school projects, etc., and the Kia satisfied the family needs. It's very smooth cruising the interstates or in city driving, and cruises along at 75 mph very nicely. There is plenty of room in the back seat for the 3 kids and their "stuff" stows away in the rear cargo area. The rear seatback reclines for more comfort and leg room is generous. The engine runs very smoothly and can hardly be heard at idle. MPG has been right around the 22 range, however we got 24 mpg during a 350 mile highway soccer trip. At 2,000 miles we are very pleased. Some things to keep in mind when buying a Kia: many options on the suv's are not standard, and have to be purchased, which I believe is poor marketing on Kia's part. Keyless entry, mats, and rear tonneau cover are options. We negotiated these into the purchase price and the dealer decided to "throw them in" as incentive for us to purchase the Sportage. Always shop near the end of the month for a better deal, and be prepared to walk away from the dealership after you give the salesman your info. They will call back if you tell them you're buying in the next week and usually sweeten the deal. Also when shopping for any vehicle, have 1 or 2 alternate vehicles picked out in case the deal goes sour and you don't like the car, salesman, manager, etc. In our case, the alternate was the Mazda 5 Sport Wagon."

But was surpised how comfortable it is on short trips. Have had all kinds of compliments on how roomy and how good of a ride it has. I would recomend to and friend and have already done so. "I bought a Kia Sportage LX V6 AWD and I would have to say that I have never been to fond of foreign vehicles, but the Kia Sporage has a great warranty and the saftey features that come standard with the 6 system airbags, it was a vehicle that I could not pass up for the options and the price. The vehicle is sporty looking and the interior is quite stylish and very roomy compared to the other suvs I had considered before my purchase. I have had my sportage for 1 month now and we have put 2600 miles on it we live in Northen Illinois and drove it to Tennessee we averaged 24mpg on the highway and 22 in the city---pretty impressive for a SUV V6. The ride was very smmoth on the road and we decided to take it off road while in Tennessee up the mountins and it did very well going up the mountain not slugish or lack of torque at all.Overall Iam Very HAPPPY with my new car purchase. I have been ased by several people at intersections what I was driving and I would tell them Kia and they don't believe that Kia made a vehicle that nice. I have sent 2 people to the local dealership where I purchases mine to look a Kia and one person purchases a Sportage and the other a Sorento. KIA KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!"

"I bought a new sportage about a month ago, and I love it. I was comparing several suvs before I purchased and I decided on the sportage. The warranty and the saftey features were the main reason my husband and I choose the sportage, you see I'm a critical care float nurse at a local hospital and I see alot of traumas come in and the patients are not in the gratest shape because of the saftey features in their vehicle (or lack ther of) I don't want to see anyone in my family like that. We just come back from a trip to Tennessee were we drove the new spotage from Illinois it drove nice the whole way there and the gas mileage was about 24mpg. Lots of luggage room. The interior of the vehicle is stylish. Everyone I know likes my vehicle and wants to know when Kia started making such a nice looking vehicle.. I would definatly recomend people to at least make it part of there decision making process, and don't just overlook a great vehicle with great saftey features and a good priced just because of the name "Kia" I overlooked that detail and got a vehicle that I know will last me a lifetime!!"
