The Land Rover LR4 SUV mixes off-road capability with on-road refinement and provides occupants with numerous luxury amenities. It seats up to seven and competes with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz M-Class and Lexus GX 460.
New for 2012
Changes for 2012 are mostly limited to the LR4's audio and navigation systems. There's a new 14-speaker stereo, and a 17-speaker stereo is optional. There's hard drive audio storage and Bluetooth streaming audio, and iPod connectivity has been improved. The navigation system features a new voice-activation system and gains revised menus and traffic information. The available rear-seat entertainment system has also been updated.
Exterior
The LR4's exterior design doesn't change much for 2012 except for the addition of new paint-color choices and wheel designs. Exterior features include:
- Power front sunroof
- Middle and rear glass roofs with sunshades
- Front and rear fog lights
- Optional heated windshield
- Optional auto-leveling headlights
Interior
Interior features include:
- Five- and seven-seat configurations
- Optional system that uses five cameras to show a complete view of the area around the SUV
- Optional third-row bench folds into floor
- Optional rear-seat entertainment system
- Optional cargo net
Under the Hood
The LR4 has four-wheel drive. It features Land Rover's Terrain Response system, which tailors vehicle characteristics to accommodate driving conditions, whether you're on pavement, slogging through mud or in other situations. Mechanical features include:
- 375-horsepower, direct-injection 5.0-liter V-8 with 375 pounds-feet of torque
- Six-speed automatic transmission
Safety
Standard safety features include:
- Antilock brakes
- Side-impact airbags for the front seats
- Side curtain airbags
- Electronic stability system
