"This car is fantastic in every aspect except for Fuel consumption in hilly stop start urban driving. In these conditions it is 20% thirstier than my 98 BMW 523i which is also a 6 cylinder 2.5 litre engine but 8 years older and half a ton heavier. To me that makes no sense, perhaps it's because the Lexus is new - I'm not sure. In open road driving it is around 15% more frugal than my BMW getting under 8litres per 100km. but at over 14l/100km in urban driving - It's not the ideal choice for someone that has to pay all their own fuel bills. I have had the vehicle 3 weeks now and I hope it settles in and becomes more ecnomical as people say it will. If it does it will be the closest thing to a perfect vehicle as you could hope for at the price."

"We just picked up our new Lexus IS250 yesterday and it was all we could do not to skip church so we could drive this miracle of a car. My wife's car for the past eight years has been a Mercedes C280 which up until now was the finest in a long line of excellent cars we have owned. However, our short experience with the IS250 has toppled the C280 from the top of the pyramid. The fit and finish of the Lexus is excellent and the navigation system provides a communication portal to the heart of the car. Handling and braking is everything I expected and more. The whole Lexus experience has been a pleasure and we hope it continues."

"I just purchased my IS250 today and the only thing I would complain about is the loss of the inline 6 that was in my IS300. This car does not feel like a rocket off the line like my IS300 did. But in all other respects, the comparison is like night and day. I love this car way better than my IS300. I wasn't looking for a rocket this time around. I was looking for economy with the Lexus sophistication I am used to. This is my fourth Lexus. Lexus has finally found the formula that Mercedes and BMW found long ago. The IS250 is unmistakably a Lexus as is the new ES330 and so will the new LS when it comes out. My IS250 listed at $37K and has every gadget I'll ever need. Living in the California desert where it was 109 degrees today, the new air conditioned seats were a blessed relief. The best improvement for me are the front seats. They are perfect for a 6'1" guy whose torso and legs are proportional to height. The lumbar support finally hits the lower back where it is supposed to. The front seats, however, do sit a little too high for my taste but what the hey. My car came with the optional 18" with Dunlop Hi-Performance summer only tires. Would have preferred Michelins--a little too much feedback on gravely asphalt. Rear seat is no different from BMW and I would like the pros to quit whinning about it. I've sat in the back seat of a 3-Series and it ain't no different. Tight is tight. Going to take the car up to Big Bear Lake this weekend and push the pedal to the metal. Maybe I'll give an update on that experience. Y.B. June 1, 2006"
