The Navigator is Lincoln's full-size luxury SUV that can seat up to eight people in three rows. Related to the Ford Expedition, the SUV is also available in long-wheelbase Navigator L form. Competitors include the Cadillac Escalade and Infiniti QX56.

New for 2010
The Navigator gains a few new features for 2010. The standard electronic stability system now boasts trailer-sway control, which can sense from the movement of the SUV if a trailer may be out of control and apply the brakes or reduce engine power. The Navigator also comes standard with Ford's MyKey system, which gives buyers the ability to set maximum speed and volume limits based on the key that's in use — handy for parents sharing the Navigator with a teen driver. Power-lowering running boards are newly standard, too.
Exterior
The Navigator's most prominent feature is its grille. It's an eggcrate design with a large horizontal bar running through the Lincoln logo. Flanking the grille are standard xenon headlights.

Interior
The leather-upholstered heated-and-cooled front seats include power adjustments, and there are adjustable pedals to add to driver comfort. Wood accents are found throughout the cabin. Second-row captain's chairs are standard, but a split-bench seat can be substituted at no extra charge. There's a standard power-folding third-row seat.

Under the Hood
The Navigator has standard V-8 power and is available with rear- or four-wheel drive. The only EPA gas mileage estimates available for the Navigator are for the two-wheel-drive model, which is rated at 14/20 mpg city/highway.

Safety

Navigator L
Though similar in appearance to the regular Navigator, the long-wheelbase Navigator L is about 15 inches longer and provides 42.6 cubic feet of cargo space with all the seats in place — nearly 25 cubic feet more than the shorter model.
Like the Navigator, the Navigator L is powered by a 5.4-liter V-8 that drives a six-speed automatic transmission. Rear- and four-wheel-drive models are offered, but the Navigator L's towing capacity of 8,700 pounds for the rear-wheel-drive model and 8,500 pounds for four-wheel-drive versions are both slightly lower than what the regular Navigator achieves.
