"This is a great small CUV. I was looking for something that would be comfortable for my 6'3" frame, give me cargo options and get good mpg. My CX5 has ~3k miles on and is consistently delivering 30+ mpg around town and highway driving. I use the manual shift option in curves and hills which converts this to a sportier drive. It could use more power but does a great job merging onto expressway traffic. One unusual thing I noticed: the word "Mazda" does not appear anywhere on the vehicle (inside or out)."

Salt Lake City Driver, You must drive this SUV

"I can't say enough about this SUV. It is replacing a 2000 Volvo cross country with 205,000 miles. I really wanted a Subaru Crosstrek, but did not like noisy CVT trans and ride was choppy. Tried the Mitsubishi Outlander sport but again noisy CVT, but ride was better. Honda CRV did not care for looks. Sorry No Fix Or Repair Daily, FORD, too many complaints on problems, same for GM equivilents. Drove the Mazda CX5 and fell in love. The 6 speed auto is smooth and really works well. Really tight and quiet ride. Got the Grand Touring, but no tech package. Lots of great options in the price, dual auto climate control, leather seats, backup camera, bluetooth, great radio bose speakers, 40/20/40 rear seats. And I really like the blind spot warning system especially at night. Also the steering is electronic which changes the steering force as the speed changes also no oily mess from steering fluid, engine does not have a timeing belt so no costly repairs down the road. 19" wheels, 8 way electric driver seat. Heated front seats. Push button start. Lots of set up features to tailer the ratio, lights, door locks and display to your likes. I'm currently getting 28 MPG 50/50 city highway driving, and seeing 32 MPG for highway with only 650 miles on the engine. Purchased for $1,400 off of list and they tossed in weather floor mats and 1st oil change. The 2014 are comming soon with a 2.4 engine, reduced MPG by 1 mile, more power, but my 2.0 does just fine here in Salt Lake."

"Bought the CX-5 after reading online reviews and rankings. Car has quiet, stable ride and a comfortable feel. Pick up on the highway lacks a bit but am comparing to our 2003 V8 Forerunner which is not fair. For the difference I get on mpg I can live with that. Averaging 29 mpg but have only had car for 1200 miles. My wife and I both like the exterior style and interior has plenty of space for four people to ride comfortably. We opted not to get the tech package but have enjoyed the hands free phone capability and streaming music from our iPhone. The side view mirror blind spot alert is also an added bonus for highway driving."

"I'm all about the AWD. My last car was a Civic SI. Being as I'm a professional school bus driver (16 yrs), when I step in my car I want comfort and sport. Power was sacrificed for fuel economy. Totally fine with that. Once you step on it she goes and she purrs quietly. Love my Snowflake!"

"When looking for an SUV, I had alot on my wish list. We bought a NEW CX5 Grand Touring, Dark Blue with Sand Leather..... love it. We've had the vehicle now for 1 month, and couldn't be happier, with iphone5 so its very compatible with this rig - the safety features really make my wife happy, and the manual shift option is fun and sporty enough for us. Backup camera, Nav, and xenon turning headlights are all very good, and we have had zero issues..... takes a little getting used to - like anything new. Worth the purchase - and we got 30 mpg on a recent weekend trip to Northern Maine - in a AWD, very happy about that. ZOOM ZOOM......"

"I've wanted an SUV for years but they kept getting bigger & mileage not great. When I spotted the CX5 on the freeway, I had to research it and was surprised it met my needs, including size, mileage and looks. I have had it 1 month & I love it. Only complaints are not enough cubby holes, doesn't support my cell phone & it doesn't have auto-on headlights. Having had the auto headlights before, I find myself taking off w/o lights. I love the safety features for someone my age: the backup camera, side window alerts & I can see curbs before I go over them."

"This car is fun, fun, fun. And easy to live with. If you like to transport a lot of things and people I recommend the 40/20/40 seats. They are really versatile and easy to use. I haven't driven the 6-speed manual transmission but the 6-speed auto is the best I've experienced. Smooth shifting and efficient."
