"I absolutely love my rx8! The only complaint I really have about it is a manufacturer problem where you cannot turn the car on and right back off without letting it warm the engine up. It will cause the engine to flood and is an expensive repair. It never happened to me yet, but it happened to the previous owner once. Other than that I love it! Very sporty and fun car."

"The car is an eye catching demon. It is fast car once you get a new engine and clutch in it. The car needs to have a six speed manual transmission other wise the RPMS will not be met to lubricate the engines oil packings on each rotor. The spark plugs are expensive and any of you qualified gear heads won't even want to touch this pile if it's under warranty. Mazda will screw you over on these cars if it is still under warranty and are difficult to deal with. A very high maintenance piece that shouldn't been purchased by me. I hope somebody reads this review before they make the mistake."

"Fun to drive. Cornering and braking excellent, acceleration good overall, but not awe-inspiring. (Like, don't go taking on a guy in a 'Vette.) Don't expect to pick up speed very quickly until engine reaches around 4500 RPM - then you get a nice little boot in the butt. Very distinctive in appearance - I've had more unsolicited complements about this car's appearance than any other I've owned, except when I bought a PT Cruiser when they first came out. Interior is very cool with some innovative lighting effects in the dash. Driving position is VERY comfortable - enjoy going on long trips in this car. Manual transmission very smooth and easy to shift. Only gripe is one of the characteristics of the rotary engine - you can't start it cold, let it run for a few minutes, then stop it. Oil floods the combustion chambers, and nothing short of a visit to a shop will get it going again. So when I have to back the car out of the garage to get the lawn tractor out, have to let it sit and idle in the driveway until engine gets warm. Have had the car for 4.5 years so far, with over 71K on it. Still looks and runs great, and plan to keep enjoying it for a while."

"I purchaed my 2004 Rx8 with 40K miles on it. It ran good for the first 6 months then there were one problem after another. Thought maybe I bought a lemon but there was always another RX8 at the repair shop when mine was there. I got rid of it when the 60K mile warrenty ran out."

"Well what can I say, they don't call them rotary experiments for nothing. You will be lucky if you can get 60,000 miles out of the car. I am also very surprised on how slow they are. Mods will not do anything to this car, you will have to replace the whole engine. This car is the perfect example of all bark and no bite. If you are going for looks this car is okay I guess, but don't plan on racing it."

"Owned this car for a few months now. Love the way it handles and has power right there when you need it. Always receiving compliments from strangers on it. Very comfortable car. Interior is far better than my friends 350Z. Loved this car."

"i just bought my rx8 ... is a great car runs good... true must let it warm up in other for it to response the way it should... true it has to be takincare more than the avarage car ... but so far the only problem im having with this car is that the heater olny work sometime ... sometime hot air sometime cold air ... and in the winter thats a big problem"
