"I own a 2004 Lancer ES, and I must say, out of all the cars we ever had this is the best one by far. I've read somewhere that the automatic transmission dampens the performance of this car, now I've never driven a manual transmission lancer so i dont know about that but i do know that the automatic does not make this car slow or non-peppy. As i have said in my title, i never did like lancers before i got this car, thats changed considerably, i still dont like the 02-03 front ends, but this car looks great, handles great (tho somtimes its a bit floaty), pulls strong all the way to the 6000 rpm redline, has really changed my view of these little cars. One thing i hate about this car is that the burgandyish color paint attracts waterspots like a magnet, same with the windows (why that happens is beyond me). Even though i said this car isn't very slow, it could use a little bit more power, because theres been times 120 hp didnt cut it (stupid big rigs). Well anyway thats what i think about this car and please pardon any mistakes i have made."

"I originally bought this car for its excellent factory warranty. How can you beat a 5-year/ 60,000 bumper to bumper warranty? Add to that a free 45,000 mile dealer service plan that even includes oil changes. There were some cheap interior features I couldn't imagine still being used like stiff heat/ac controls (like a lawn mower speed lever!) and a clock designed like the very first digital one ever made for a car (with the ugly green LED screen that doesn't match the rest of the dash). I noticed my paint beginning to chip almost immediately so I had the dealer add mud guards that solved the problem. The rest of the exterior is beautifully executed with good fit and finish all around. My wagon came with a 162 hp. engine that gets reasonably good gas mileage (25 mpg average) considering the amazing power. It accelerates like a sports car. I still have good brakes after almost 30,000 miles. The only money I had to spend was on windshield wipers to date so the cost of operation is better than any car I have ever owned. There are a few things that concern me that I hope to have corrected the next time I have it serviced. Since new, the ac compressor stops working for no reason for minutes at a time. This happens in rainy weather when I need the defogger as well in warm weather when I need cold air. Also, I thought the car had some kind of traction device that transferred power to one drive wheel if the other one started to spin. I have an awful time in the lightest snow or in gravel. It took some getting used to, but I am very happy with my Mitsubishi. This is my third one. I would recommend a Lancer Sportback but it was made for 2004 only."
