"I'm 17 years old and just bought my first car, a 2004 Nissan Murano, about 3 months ago. It had 44,235 miles on it. Now at 46,990 miles on it I've had to replace the muffler system and the defrost system broke. I love the exterior and interior design and all my friends love it. Its proved to be pretty reliable so far, minus those two problems. The previous owner said all she replaced in 5 years was the tires. This is an awsome car and recommend it to anyone!"

"We bought a 2004 Murano w/40k miles in 2007. It's the SL model with all available options so it's well equipped. We hate this car. Performance is sluggish for a big V6 and engine noise when accelerating is intolerable. Road noise is equally disturbing and the ride is hard. Handling is OK but a little sloppy. Climate control is a plus, but the front vents are aimed badly and it's slow to cool off a hot car. Visibility for the driver is poor due to high windows and body shape. Most disappointing is the sound system and integrated nav. Within a few days after purchase we realized the radio would not hold any FM station tuned in. Its static, under powered sound was awful. We tried two dealer service depts, 2 car audio stores, contacted Bose which denied it made the radio that bears its name, tried to contact Clarion per Bose's info, and searched everything we could find online for a fix, but the bottom line is nothing could be done. Replacing the entire unit would cost thousands. Finally we found a parts guy who said there is an antenna booster inthe roof that could be replacced for around $400. We did that and it helped--a little--but overall the sound is tinny and full of static. Good points: Seats are very comfortable and the rear seats recline. Gas mileage is a little better than we expected. Worst of all the loss in resale value has made this car impossible to replace. We paid $24k, the low end of retail at the time, and the high end is now around 12k. We'll be stuck with it for 5 years. I would not recommend this car to anyone. We have other Nissans that are great cars-just avoid the Murano."

"About a month ago we bought a 2004 Nissan Murano SE AWD, color mid-night blue with tan leather. It is a sweet car. We had such success with our 1999 Maxima, that we probably won't buy anything other than Nissan or Infiniti. The Maxima has 150k on it and has never been in the shop for any major mechanical repair. The Murano gets pretty decent gas mileage for an AWD. I have been tracking the last couple of weeks and it is a little over 21 MPG mixed driving, and we got up 25 MPG on cruise control set at 65 mph. A much improvement from my 2004 Explorer we traded in, which only average a hair over 15 MPG. We bought this with 53k on it, and opted for the extended warranty due to the CVT transmission. I've heard these are a nightmare if they go out and you are stuck with a $4-5k bill. For piece of mind we choose the basic extended powertrain warranty, at a very fair price from the dealer. I truely cannot find anything negative to say about this car, other than I wish it had an AUX port for my iPod. This car handles as well, if not better, than my friends 2002 X5 Bimmer. The pick-up is amazing. Great car and would recommend to anyone who wants a decent MPG SUV that is fun to drive."

"With all the bells and whistles, and I am not talking about the noises comming click and clack, this is a fun to drive auto. Corners well, handles great, many creature features, did I say it was comfortable and fun to drive. Ok they have a real problem with the cup holders, They should be in the dash, or some other place and they should be intended for use as drink holders. Yea that is the only complaint!"

"I have always been a person that drove Fords, but after recently buying my Murano I absolutely love it. My wife liked them so when we went car shopping that was what we went for. After test driving I couldn't say no. It is a beautiful driving vehicle and the comfort level is outstanding. For anyone with a family that doesn't want a minivan I do recommend the Nissan Murano."

"We bought our 2004 new. My wife fell in love with the design and features. It was lightyears ahead of the Ford Escape we had and the 2 GM's we test drove. Engine is adequate but could be snappier. Throttle sensor went out at 28K but was covered under warranty. Spent 34K and didn't have navigation on it. Gets around 21mpg on hiway. Stereo is the bomb and bun warmers are nice with the leather interior. We also have a Acura MDX which is a better built SUV, but pricier also. Handles okay with the 18 inch wheels it came with. Good styling around a fair frame and drivetrain really."

"We have owned our 2004 Nissan Murano for 2 yrs and is a perfect fit for our family and garage. Have enough space to walk all the way around with garage door closed. Not much longer than our Civic. Will fit 5 people very comfortably. We love the CVT transmission and has plenty of power and runs very smooth. If we totalled it out today, we would go buy a 2007 model."
