"This is a second generation Murano we own and honestly, it's the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Within two years, the inside door panel has started to rust and had to be fixed/painted twice because the Authorized Nissan Bodyshop has done a poor job the first time (under warranty). Tire pressure valves broke on two wheels, unabling air fill-up and had to be changed out by the dealer (under warranty). When we reached a little over 31K miles on the vehicle, we started to hear a thumping noise from the right front tire at speeds of over 40-45 mps. Tire was inspected by a local dealership and nothing was found. We had to buy a new tire ourselves because we got tired trying to proof continues issues with our car. The most recent problem involves the electrical wiring, specifically the headlight bulb sockets/connectors, which started to melt (warranty denied by Nissan / fixed and paid for by me)."

"Bought this used car in the summer. Had a choice between a dark grey cloth interior and a light tan leather interior, and we chose the leather. Feels very luxurious inside. This SL also has heated seats, foglights, twin sunroofs, and a bunch of other little extras that make this car great. Decent pick up and it def. rides well on the highway; decent gas mileage too (22 MPG+). Good for transporting at least 4 people and plenty of room in the back for 2 big suitcases (or 2 bails of hay) and then some. Space was our main concern when shopping for a SUV and this has it."

"First, it is an LE model and it is my wife's car. Second, for the price range, there is nothing out there that even comes close. Last, it was the only vehicle I felt that was both very safe and extremely dependable for my wife to drive - and me, when she lets me!"

"This is the most fun I have had driving a vehicle since the early 80's. There isn't anything I don't like about this Murano, except that it requires premium gas. And it is a little hard to see out the back window when backing up, but a have a nifty rear camera to help me out."

"I have had five Accords and this is my first Nissan Murano and I'm Nissan all the way. I love it and the service Nissan provides it customers. The ride and comfort out performs Honda by far. Thank you Nissan for the first rate car."

"It was time to step out of my turbocharged sports car days and into something more practical. After countless hours of research on the web I had narrowed it down: Nissan Murano, Mazda CX-7, or Ford Edge. I was seeking performance due to my driving style and desire for a "car-like" ride, but of course wanted the space, comfort, and practicality of a small SUV. I've also driven a 5-speed manual in my last 5 cars, so a transmission that I agreed with was a must. First, a few notes on the competition, then a few notes on the 1st and 2nd gen Muranos, then my current experience after a few months of ownership. I quickly ruled out the CX-7 because I didn't want to own a crossover with a turbo-charged 4 cylinder engine. Turbos die, and struggle in hot weather, and require longer warm-ups and maintenance. The fact that that engine setup in the CX-7 doesn't get any better mileage than the 6 cylinders' in this class, and the louder ride, didn't help either. I like the styling of the Edge but I'm not a fan of Ford in general, the interior styling is lacking, and while it has a 6-speed transmission, there is no auto-manual to control gears, which I find handy in an automatic. Reviews also indicated it handles more like an SUV and I don't want to feel like I'm driving an SUV. I have heard that their mpg is high however. So, I swung through my local Nissan dealer, who had two Muranos for the same price. I first drove a loaded 07 Murano SL AWD with leather, bose, monroof and the whole nine, but 35,000 miles. In the 1st generation (03-07), the seats sit a little high (preffered by some) but very comfy. The guages are old & cheap looking but the rest of the dash is sharp, except for the massive landing strip of area below the windshield. The bose system shockingly didn't sound that great. I expected better after hearing other bose systems. Performance is very nice, with good handling, nice power, and instant throttle response from the CVT transmission. Overall, I've always liked these and did even more after driving one myself. They also had an 09 SL AWD on the lot that JUST came in. This had cloth, which I prefer, and was a pretty base SL (no bose, no leather, no other upgrades) but had an aftermarket power moonroof installed (bonus). I immediately noticed the lower seating position, preferred by me as it sits more like a car. The dash is dramatically changed in the new gen, with a new radio console, beautiful new guages, and nicer top dash. This gen has more horsepower (20) and a slightly tweaked (improved) CVT transmission. After taking the 09 out on the same drive as the 07, the upgraded power was quickly noticable. Handling was about the same, but slightly softer (intentional by Nissan) but still cornered well. The factory stereo system is actually quite nice but doesn't quite get all the low bass notes in many songs. No problem, I have a small subwoofer that can remedy that. So, I bought the 09, with only 17,500 miles for a few reasons: Low miles, more power, and age. After driving it for a few months now, I will say the mileage is not great, but hey, its a crossover. My driving style doesn't help me here either. I ave about 16-18mpg around town, but I do get low-mid 20s on just highway. Every time I drive it I just want to stay in the seat because I'm so comfortable. As far as utility goes, first, we had a massive snow storm here in Buffalo and it handles brutal roads with little to no issue. Cargo space is plenty for me. The dogs ride very comfortably in back on the flat surface. Its deceivingly spacious. Every time I walk up to it in a parking lot I admire the style too. It really stands out. I highly recommend taking it on a long test drive, on the highway and on a lot of stop and go roads to try out the CVT transmission. Sometimes you feel like its "dogging" on you if you're accelerating slowly, because the RPMs kick DOWN (believe it or not) while your foot is still pressing down on the gas, but you're still accellerating at the same rate. Its deceiving. There are no downshifts when accellerating and the power is instant and smooth when you hit the gas. Overall, its a great vehicle and a perfect step up from a car in my opinion. Hope this helps, and sorry for the short book..... ;-)"

"I just purchased a 2009 Murano SL. The Body Style is very nice, and the comfort is great. The Cargo area is a good size. The car handles very well, and drives smooth. I would only have to say that for the price and it being an SL edition that it lacks the dual power seating, heated seats, the driver memory (the mirror and seat memory setting) and no sunroof. But the performance is Excellent."

"TRADED IN OUR HONDA PILOT BECAUSE WE JUST DIDN'T NEED AN 8 PASSENGER VEHICLE ANY LONGER. THE MURANO WAS THE PERFECT SIZE AND VERY STYLISH. THE GREATEST ATTRIBUTE IS THE SMOOTH SHIFTING DUE TO THE CVT, IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE WITH HOW QUIET IT IS. THE ACCELERATION IS EFFORTLESS AND THE CABIN IS VERY COMFORTABLE.FINALLY, THE AWD IS A MUST WHEN YOU LIVE WITH BAD WEATHER AND STEEP HILLS.MY ONLY REGRET IS THAT IT IS MY WIFE'S CAR SO I USUALLY ONLY GET TO DRIVE IT ON WEEKENDS.WOULD RECOMMEND THE MURANO TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN."

"Recently, I had the opportunity to drive a 2009 Nissan Murano SL 4dr SUV as my rental car on two separate occasions. I have to say that I was very impressed with the overall fit and finish of the vehicle from the clean looking exterior to the exquisite interior. It is definitely a head turner riding around town. The interior is very roomy and can comfortably seat five and the seats remain comfy even after a long night of driving. The engine provides the perfect amount of get up and go and makes weaving in and out of traffic a cinch. I was also getting 23 mpg. What more could a person ask for in a crossover SUV? I?ll tell you! There is one major design flaw that was overlooked in the creation of this vehicle. The center console is extremely bulky and it makes it extremely difficult for the driver to give a shoulder massage to the passenger. I really hope Nissan looks at reducing the dimensions on this ?center fridge? on their next model. Thankfully, I have long arms but it was still uncomfortable, and what are people with short arms supposed to do? How could this have been overlooked? I?m sure there are many Murano owners out there that would agree with me on this and many a Murano passenger that have gone without their massage because of it. Because of this flaw, I would probably never buy this vehicle and it will remain a ?rental? only for me until Nissan addresses it. Also, the AC/heater is somewhat tricky to figure out and the passenger seatbelt buckle likes to get jammed against the side..."
