"Or so starts the 1960 commercial for a recently revived car name and in my opinion this is THAT car for the 21st century. As many others have said don?t believe the "professional" reviewers this car provides adequate styling, power, handling, and standard features making the Versa an outstanding value on its own but we haven?t even mentioned the roominess, the ridiculous reliability, the huge trunk all wrapped up in a 40mpg compact car. It?s not a neck jerking sports car nor a couch on wheels and reviewers should not consider it as such. With all of this I do believe the Versa is the best car dollar per dollar on the market at this time."

Value vs perks

"The Versa gives alot of value for your money, but creature comforts have largely scurried away on this model. Fuel economy is awesome. Price points to buy are several thousand dollars cheaper at $14k, 15k, and 16-17,000 for a brand new current 2013. Another thing I really like about the versa is that it's easy to get in and out for a big fella like myself. That being said, it's a commuter vehicle not a dragster. You can pass other cars effectively, but only if they are willing. The sipper of an engine gets 40+hwy, but will only impress you in the wallet. An ash tray is gone, but the cigarette lighter for your plug in remains. The only enclosed compartment for your stuff is a door hinged indentation on the passenger side. Nissan designers must like grab and go, because if you don't, your stuff will fall on the floor. When all is said and done, despite some of the perks missing, its a solid car that will save you alot of money at the pump and it's easy to buy one at a great price. Good job Nissan! - U.C."

"I bought my daughter a fully loaded, power everything SV model in fresh powder with the cvt trans, I was extremely impressed with how large the inside felt and with all the power options the car has a more exspensive feel. Gas milaege is excellent and it meets the 2016 mpg mandate. I compared vehicle models in this category and after test driving all, I felt the versa was the best choice for money spent and factory options on car. My daughter loves the car and with 2 small children the versa should meet all her car needs."

"Good value for the money. Good gas mileage. good style. Easy to drive. Has as much comfort as your going to get from a small car. Haven't had long enough to comment on reliability. This is my third versa 2008 2009 2013 and never had any problems Still have all three"

"Have close to 200 miles in and the Versa SV is terrific. It get's me from point A to point B without spending lot's of hard earned cash. If you are looking for luxury then the Acura line is better, but for normal commute, it's been terrific. Getting about 40 mpg average and loving it. The CVT doesn't bother me so far - actually it is smoother than most normal tranny cars I've driven. I did own a Datsun B-210 (manual) and an Altima so I do like Nissan, but the my fact remains is that this car's ingenuity sticks out at me and I'm definitely loving it. Take it for a test drive and you'll see. I did, and now I own one!!"

"Was looking for an economical car that was comfortable affordable and great on gas. I found it! Average 38 mpg. Roomy enough for a big guy like me and can still get 4 others in the car, not feeling like circus clowns. The price was SUPER! Only thing it does ride a little rough on bad roads, as do most cars its size. Peppy 1.6l engine. CVT is awesome. Don't overlook this car."

"I bought the Versa S Sedan with the automatic transmission. It is giving me great gas mileage, 35-38 mpg driving in the snow and warming it up. Very roomy for a big guy like myself, a plug in for my ipod and surprisingly good speakers. Good pep on highway acceleration for a 109 hp engine. Huge trunk though I would have preferred a fold down back seat. I don't mind not having power windows, but I'm getting used to reaching across and back to unlock doors manually! At least Nissan could have put a key entry on the passenger side so I can let my wife in first like the gentleman that I am. I had to buy a couple cheap mirrors to attach to the visors so she can put on her eye makeup. But overall- I love this car for the price I paid!"

Getting 41 MPG Average

"I read a lot of car reviews before purchasing a car. I recommend that you don't waste your time reading the so called "expert reviews" because they are a waste of time especially if you are looking for a practical car. They think that everyone is looking for luxury, fancy style and extreme performance in every car they review. For the price of this car and it's class, it is the best value I have found. If you are looking for what the "experts" think, this is probably not the car for you. If your looking for a very practical car with excellent gas milage, this is a great car. I get 41mpg driving to work going between 45 and 65 MPH with a handfull of stop lights/signs. I haven't taken it on vacation, but when I compared all of the cars in it's class it has the most passenger room and cargo space. The only thing that this car lacks is a cubby hole to put your sunglasses, but I solved that by buying a clip that holds them on the visor (only reason for 4 on interior design rating). Hope this helps you to make a decision on your new car."
