"Before I bought my 2007 xterra I owned a 98 Frontier and thought it was a pretty reliable truck so I went with another Nissan vehicle. I originally wanted a toyota tundra but couldn't find one to fit my needs and couldn't get a good deal. I have a little over 4,000 miles on my xterra now and so far I haven't had any major problems with it. It handles well to me, looks stylish, isn't too bulky and has good power. The inside is pretty roomy, looks nice as well, and can easily hold 5 people. The back can hold a lot so its good for hauling boxes back there and plenty of groceries. It even has a small spot underneath the back you can put stuff. The only problem is the floor back there is plastic so stuff slides around everywhere and even scratches the plastic but you can buy a carpet to put back there. The top also has a place to put things. I also recommend getting the side rails because they look nice as well and are great for shorter people and to get in the back seat. The back seat has good room but is difficult to get into. Another issue is the gas mileage which isn't terrible but not that good either. The xterra also drives a little bit rough but its not too bad. Overall I definitely recommend the 2007 Xterra because it is a good value for the price!"

"Nearly every vehicle I have owned has been a "lemon" but I have been extremely pleased with my 2007 X-terra. It handles well, is sporty yet simple and carries my cargo (3 children ranging in ages from 3-14) safely. I wish the features were a little less basic but overall, I think I have a great, reliable vehicle."

"I switched from an 05 Jeep Liberty to an 07 Xterra X package due to help from a Lemon Law Settlement from Chrysler. The Xterra beats the Liberty in all categories but handling. THe Xterra handles like a boat compared to the nimble liberty at slower speeds, such as pulling into parking spaces or going down offroad trails, however, the Xterra is very solid on the road and on highways. Gas mileage is much better than what was advertised and what I expected. I get about 22 mpg around town and highway ... I've noticed no difference in mpg with different driving. The interior is very well designed, as I said, the vehicle just feels solid inside and out. The engine has good power, and the manual transmission shifts better than cars I have driven that had sticks. I'm very satisfied with the Xterra after 4000 miles. As I said my only complaint is sometimes its a little vague in handling in tight situations, but the overall quality and design of the vehicle makes up for it. P.S. The "easy clean" cargo area means your stuff slides all over the place on the plastic. I had to buy a floor mat to put back there, they sell them from Nissan that are specifically made to fit but they are about 70 bucks."

"We are in our mid fifties and really surprised our kids when we traded our Altima for this vehicle. The ride is really firm, solid and comfortable. We really like the raised back seat so passengers don't have to look at the headrest. The wife uses it for work and the gas mileage is only about a mile per gallon less than the Altima but the power in this 6 cyl. engine is all we could expect. We don't have the 4 wheel drive version but it suits our needs well. The safety features are great with square tubing framework and engine mounts that break off and drop on a frontal impact. The test drive will convince you of the quality."

"My Wife and had been shopping the Major Players in this segment and were on our way to order an 08 Honda for her. (Previously had test driven Honda and liked it) and stopped by the Nissan Dealership on the way there. We had looked at Xterra but not driven one yet, and wanted to give the X a fair shot at it. After 10 Miles and both Highway and country road driving, we were amazed at the Power and Smooth Handling. Frankly, the Power and Acceleration compared to the Honda was no contest. The X had it all over ALL the others and we were so impressed with the Live Rear Axle and limited slip differentials front AND rear (Standard on all models!!) That I traded in my Jeep Wrangler that afternoon and we bought TWO Xterras from Nissan. My Wife LOVES her "Red Brawn" (She calls it "Dark Ruby" and I feel exactly the same about my "Night Armor" X. EVERYTHING about this truck is a winner. The Air cools down the cabin in 2 minutes, and it was 92 degrees here today in Sunny Pennslyvania, amazing. I had the Back Seats folded down today to move and entire DRUM SET for my nephew which he bought from Guitar Center. That Rubber Cargo area with the EZ fold down seats is Great. And you dont have to take of the head rests to do it, just pull two straps and down they go. There is simply nothing you could ask for (within reason) than this truck does not do. PERIOD. I passed one of those Mercedes Benz $50,000 Bread box SUV's today and had to laugh to myself, he could be driving an X and saved himself 25 Grand!! Highly Recommended !!"

"I bought my XTerra in August 06 and I loved it! Very muscular appearance with the bold front grille. The ride was very smooth and the seats were comfortable. The storage box on the roof rack held the wet and sandy stuff after a day at the beach. It was the BEST truck I have ever owned! Unfortonately I met a brick wall with it and totaled it out. But I walked away without a scratch! Very safe vehicle! Plus it held its value extremely well when it came to the insurance stuff. I look forward to replacing it with another XTerra."

My X is my attitude

"I had driven a fab little Geo Tracker, plain jane 4cyl stick, 4X4 for 10 yrs and wanted to go bigger to tow a camping trailer. I am an avid off road driver, desert adventurer and rock hound, so true 4X4 is necessary. I considered the other four similarly equipped competitors all competent Off Road vehicles. I decided on the X because there are no blind spots, a little extra cargo length, easy operation of things like door handles, seat movement, a level cargo deck and excellent agility. I have had it on long freeway trips and, yes, it rides like a truck: hello, it is a truck! And a comfortable one. I have put maybe 300 various off road rocky, steep and sandy miles on it and it performs exactly like I want it to. I like the auto tranny, didn't expect to as I have had stick all my driving life( 40+years). She has maybe only 2500 miles since mid February, but I see no reason that time will diminish my enjoyment. It is easy to pack, unpack, load rocks into and doesn't notice the extra weight. I have no complaints and will reccomment it to anyone AS LONG AS THEY REALLY NEED A 4X4. I see no point in city slickers having a vehicle that is more than they need - one woman's opinion. The thing I love best about my X is the attitude. it makes me happy to be behind the wheel. All the extras are good, sound system, elec doors, windows, keyless adit, cruise, steering wheel control buttons. It is fun to get there, easy on the hwy and fun when I am there! One note: So far my gas has averaged 17+, no higher, but then, I may push over the optimum, which may be 55? Don't know, but she likes to go at competitive highway speeds which may not be optimum."

"We've had five Jeeps(including an Unlimited Rubicon) and were looking for something that was comfortable and powerful on road while still having real off road ability(no car based posers). We seriously wanted to like the new 4dr Wrangler, but it lacked the power , comfort and features on road that the Xterra had. Plus, the X was $3,000 less out the door. The X's engine and transmission really make it quick. It is very civilized inside. The standard track system in the cargo area, easy folding seats and roof rack make it very flexible for people and cargo. Great visibility and rear entry and easily usable space compared to the Toyota FJ."
