"I purchased this car in 1999 with about 18,000 miles on it. 10 years later at 210,000 miles it is time to say goodbye. Overall, it has been a pretty satisfying vehicle with an acceptable service history. A crankshaft speed sensor under warranty and a fuel valve brought separate trips to the shop but it never left me stranded. The front blinkers did give me some fits over the years, I ended up changing out the bulb connectors and utilized dielectic grease to solve the problem. Didn't need my first front brake job until 75K miles and my second at 175K. I finally replaced the rear brakes at 200K for the first time. I did have to replace the HVAC blower motor and the blower resistor once when the fan quite working. The 3.5L engine always seemed to make decent power, however it didn't seem quite as strong as my brothers 3.8L Grand Prix. I will say that this engine has always been thirsty for oil. Since day one it has always needed at least one quart of oil added between the 3,000 mile oil changes. As a side note, my brothers 3.8L Pontiac never burned a drop of oil during this same time frame. I have gone through struts once, several sets of tires but I am still running the original wheel ends with no squeaking or bearing issues. Original alternator, water pump, power steering, exhaust, no tranny issues. I don't know. In my mind, having a car like this for 10 years with only a couple trips to the shop for minor issues $500 or less, feels like a success to me. This past winter I started burning coolant and I parked the car until it got warmer in the spring. At 210K miles a head job costs $3500 and a replacement engine would be $4500. Thats OK, I feel I got my money's worth on this vehicle. It is time to say goodbye and start looking for a replacement. I would have no issues buying another one of these cars with over 100K miles. I would be hesitant to buy with over 180K since the engine could be nearing the end of its servicable life."

"I bought a 2000 Intrigue with over 148,000 miles on it nearly a month ago. It still runs and drives great! I absolutely love it! I really wish GM would build them again."

"I just sold my 2000 Intrigue. It had 183,000 miles and was still running strong. It was actually a car that my parents bought new and that I bought from them. So I pretty much know the history of the car through all 183k. There's not much bad to say. We didn't have to do much work at all beyond normal wear and tear stuff. There were problems with lights on the instrument panel -- Check engine, airbag, antilock lights were always on, though there were no problems. And by the end it was burning oil pretty quickly. The good would be the engine, for sure. Powerful, smooth, quiet and consistent. Very solid. Great transmission. Pretty good gas mileage -- up to 27 hwy. Overall a nice solid vehicle."

"I bought my 2000 Intrigue new after almost a year of searching for the right car. Nine years later I still love it. It is roomy and comfortable. Loads of cargo space - fits giant size suitcases going to the airport. Never had any major repairs. Speakers sound great. My only complaint is that it is very hard to see the tiny little light on the A/C button if it's sunny outside. Sooo sorry they don't make them any more - what a great car."

"I love this car! The exterior design is nice, but the interior design leaves something to be desired. The car is a little cramped, but is comfortable none the less. The car handles real well and drives smoothly. My car has over 144,000 miles on it and has been in three wrecks so far. And it couldn't be better! Amazingly, i have only had minor mechanical problems. One was a transmission fuel leak. Some interior parts are broken, like an air vent and the vanity mirror, but you learn to ignore them. A reoccurring problem, though, is the brake pads seem to wear down fast. Overall, the car holds together pretty well. Mechanical problems will occur, but this happens in every car. The car is well worth what i paid for it."

"I bought my used Intrigue in 2003 and have never regretted it. The car now has close to 120,000 miles on it. I have had no problems at all. I have been amazed at the gas mileage. I average 25 in town and 30 on long trips. This with a v-6 engine! I know one family that has just recently purchased their third Intrigue. When we are together, we talk on and on about how great a car this is. Oldsmobile did it right on this one. It is unfortunate that GM decided to stop making it."

"I'd buy another one in a heartbeat if they still made them. I really like the handling, power, ride and comfort of this car. The economy was higher than expected. On our trip out West I checked the gas mileage 3 times. I got 32.2, 31.6 and 30. The 30 was running 83-85 mph from Rapid City,SD to Sioux Falls, SD. I was happy. The power and handling in the mountains during our trip and driving around home makes it a joy to drive. My wife has a back problem and I was worried, on our trip, about the long days in the car, but , evidently the seats are orthopedically very good as she had no problem. Finally a wonderful car and then they quit making them, what a shame."

"I purchased this car used in 2003 it had 38,000 miles on it. I thought I was getting a good deal. Within the four years of owning this auto I have had to rebuild the transmission ($2400), replace both oxygen sensors ($120 a piece) and it is throwing the O2 sensor code again, 2 wheel sensors ($140 a piece), one wheel hub assembly ($180 a piece), Water Pump and serpentine belt ($380), and the tune up for this car is outrageously high ($300+)depending of course on how much you want done. I still need to replace another Wheel Hub assembly that began to go as soon as I had the first replaced. The alumminum wheels are very fragile. I've cracked two of them and currently have one other that is a bent. ($160 for replacement). What seemed to be a good deal at the time of purchase has ended up costing me me over $3000.00 in additional repairs. By the way the transmission mechanic couldn't even give a reason for what caused it to fail. I also need the muffler replaced as well as the problems that the tune-up was supposed to fix continue to persist. It also burns through oil after about 2000 miles of it being changed. My mechanic could not figure out why. I did routine oil changes and maintenance as well. Just a bad experience overall."

"I purchased this car in 2000 and I must say, I truly adore this make & model. I just wish GM had continued to manufacture this vehicle. I have had no major problems with this car and in fact just recently had the oxygen sensor changed. The car is serviced every 3 to 4 thousand miles and has been driven on long trips. I am so comfortable with my Intrigue and I know eventually I will have to part with it due to age, however if GM ever decided to again manufacture this car, I would be the first in line to purchase another one. I am happy to see Intrigues still on the road. As a matter of fact, I have been given the hi-five by other intrigue owners as we pass each other on the road. This is truly a GREAT vehicle."

"This is a cleanly styled vehicle both inside and out with a roomy and comfortable interior, and a good-sized trunk. Driving the Intrigue feels like driving an import. Speed-sensitive steering offers good feedback, and the brake pedal is responsive with its ABS brakes. Seats are comfy and supportive. While the car is fairly big, it doesn't feel like it from the driver's seat, thanks to responsive handling and good visibility. Intrigue's twin-cam V6 not only provides solid acceleration and good fuel economy, but it does so without the need for premium fuel, unlike many other performance-oriented V6 powerplants in this class."
