"This has been the best car i've ever owned. I purchsed this car in July of 2005 with 46,000 miles. The only complaint i have about this car is there is some sort of problem with the turn signals and they only work when they feel like it. Other then that I have never has anything go wrong with this car. The only thing i've ever had to replace (besides tires) were the brakes and i didnt even replace them till September of 2009. I have 3 kids and they all fit comfortablely. Its a very reliable car and its never let me down."

"I purchased this car used with 42,000 I now have 77,777 miles on it. I have had no major problems, I do regular oil changes and maintenance. It is very dependable and great on gas, sporty, and fun to drive. Heater fan quit blowing, but wires were just loose, and needed cleaned now it works fine. Oil changes and maintenance are key to any vehicle running good long term. It is small and sporty not good if you have allot of cargo or passengers."

"I purchased the 2001 gt 3.4L 6 cyl with 73,000 miles and before my first payment was due I had to replace the headgasket. Two years later, completely unexpectedly and with no warning whatsoever (like overheating), the headgasket went again and now I have a crack in the actual head. Repairs have totalled well over four grand, and I work at a dealership and get the discounts. I've replaced the brakes all the way around at least 4 times. Passenger side window won't roll all the way up. I had to have a new blower motor put in it for heat. It absolutely refuses to start in cold weather, and takes at least 10 seconds of holding the key in place to get it to turn over. Couldn't use the car starter in it for this reason. Please please please find a different car!"

"No wonder GM/Pontiac stopped making this vehicle. This is the 2nd Grand Am I have owned. The first,a 1995 4dr. SE, great car until the transmission went. But I got 7 pretty good yrs out of it, prior to trade in. Traded it off right before the tranny dropped. Traded for my 2001 GT 2dr coupe, in January 2004 w/52,000 mi. I don't usually buy used cars with these high of miles. The car looks awesome as long as it is parked! One week after I bought it drivers window went out, which I have sinced had repaired 3 times, also had to repair passenger window. Also had to have rear window replaced as the rear defrost stopped working and could not be repaired, so out came the whole window! Now every time the weather changes...it's in the repair shop. Repairs are too numerous to name. Currently this vehicle is for sale! I'm not wealthy enough to own this car any longer because the repairs are killing my bank account!"

"2001 Grand Am SE 3.4L V6. I bought this car with 77k on it and have only had it for a year. I was searching for my second car I have ever purchased and jumped the gun on this one. I have already replaced the brake pads and rotors twice!!! after only driving with it for 20,000 mi.. thank god for warranties.. The car hesitates greatly before starting and sometimes putters on with very low rev. Other times the EGR valve sticks and the car revs to 3500rpm making it hard to stop and rather annoying! Driving it anymore is more like a chore than enjoyment. You feel every little pebble as if you were going over a boulder and it sounds like it too. If your looking for a good car, do your research before you buy anything!! Take it from me, lesson well learned!"

"Ok. This car has been a nightmare! My gf and I have spent more than the car costs in repairs etc. It is the worst car I have ever drove. There are so many problems that occur with this car that it should not even be allowed to be sold! Trouble with fuel pressure regulator, throttle position sensor, clicking noise on the dashboard, "trac off light" fuel filter and "service engine light" AlWAYS ON (even after the car has been repaired) do not buy the car. It will cost you TONS."

"I bought this car with 73,000 miles on it. It handles very well esspecialy with the 2.4L engine. I can't believe how much that little 4 banger picks up and goes, It packs a punch! The interior is very well designed, with great leg room, and comforts. I love the heater/ air conditioner vents. The seats are comfortable, but the head rests are a little firm. As far as reliability is concerned, I had to do some minor repairs, but nothing major. The fuel injectors needed replaced, and the fuel filter as well, oil changes every 3,000 miles. Overall that is about it as far as maintnence is concerned. These cars are very sensitive though, so i don't recommend this car to people who don't have alot of time to do routine maintnence work on thier vehicle. But overall, this is a nice sporty, peppy, and smooth running little car."

"As a teenager searching for my first car, I was only looking for features, performance, and style. The most important thing I overlooked was reliability. I purchased this car used with less than 70,000 miles on it. When I found this car, I was amazed by the list of standard features (on the GT1) that are hard to find on even the most upscale cars such as automatic headlamps, an awesome sound system, leather seats, a power sunroof, and audio controls on the steering wheel. Also, the power driver seat moved into any position, far exceeding the limits of my mom's Chrysler Aspen's power seats, making it very easy to find a comfortable driving position. The car was fast, and stuck to the pavement pretty well under almost any type of driving. With that said, I had numerous problems with the car. First off, the car cranks for a while before it actually turns over. I had a remote start put on the car and I could never use it because the Grand Am likes to crank for so long before it actually starts. Also, at only 70,000 miles, the shocks and struts made all kinds of noise going over small bumps and potholes. I had to have the break pads and rotors replaced twice in only 25,000 miles of driving. The thermostat went out, and there was a short in the battery, leaving me stranded at a gas station. The transmission is anything but smooth, leading me to believe that it was going to go out in a couple months. Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad first car for a teenager like myself who is looking for nothing more than style and features. This is definitely a sharp looking car, but it lacks reliability. Most people looking for a small car with plenty of features would probably be more satisfied in a Volkswagen Jetta or Mazda3."
