"Well, the only Boxs I've ever owned, but I've driven several. This has everything the Porsche offers outside some cabin outfittings, but great drive-train and more stares-per capita in any city. It simply purrs. The first gear is picky, but on curves it keeps up with same-age 911s. It wants to be driven hard!"

"I bought a 1997 Boxster in 2001 with 21K miles on it. It is now 2008 and it has 130K miles on it. One thing about these cars is that you really need to keep up with the maintenance to keep it running properly. Dealers charge ridiculous amounts for maintenance, but the Boxster is a very easy car to work on, even if you have no mechanical experience at all. The oil change interval on these cars is 15K miles, due to the fact that there is 9 quarts of (synthetic) oil in the car, compared to a 'regular' car's 4. Changing the oil is the best preventive maintenance that you can do. There are some items on Boxsters that fail quite frequently. The Air/Oil Separator, the Mass Air Flow sensor (MAF), the convertible top cables. But if you can turn a wrench, then you can afford to fix this car. They are unbelievable cars: well-balanced, superb handling, good mileage, and a TON of fun!"

"The 97 is a great car, I know the S is now the big dog but the 97 is still got alot of get up and go. Still rated to top out at 149mph. This car is great from moving from speeds to 30 to 100. Fun car to just go out an drive."
