"beware of poorly maintained, but good looking models... mine left me stranded within 6 days of purchase and a bill for $500 to replace a cheap battery and crankshaft position sensor. Pay the extra to have it inspected and do not expect the dealer to be forthcoming."

"Great vehicle. I have the 6 cyl. awd and have owned it for almost 3 years now. I put over 30k on it and still have had no problems what so ever. It has over 100k now and it's still running strong and still looks great too! It's fun to drive and very peppy."

"I bought my 2003 Saturn VUE, used, from a particular owner and I love it so far. It has a 5 speed manual transmision and the 2.2l engine. It´s not as powerful as some competition but is enough for me. I also get 25mpg on city which is even better than my previous 4 cylinder car. My black Vue has 94000 miles and still has not gone through major repairs. I was going to buy a 4 cylinder Vue with the VTi but I regretted and I chose the 5spd. I´m happy with my decision, it still does have good features, mine even has curtain airbags and Traction control. So far it has been a bargain"

"I DO have the 04 4 cyl cvt and it has run great. The trans made a rubbing noise when it was under warranty and that's it. The salesperson told me when I bought it that you MUST have the CVT trans flushed at 50,000 miles whic I did. I have had no problems with it, and it still gets me up to 29mpg hwy/25 city. Also can fit three car seats via the latch which is very useful."

"I bought my Vue off lease. It drove extremely well until the CVT gave out at 70k miles. Thank God for extended warranties. The replacement ran $4,800 at a Saturn dealer. Stay away from the CVT!!"

"I own an '03 Vue with a V6 engine and am very pleased with it. I've managed to convince a few of my friends to buy one, and they love theirs, too! I saw a commenter on here (Beach Comber)setting the record straight about transmissions. The info. that was provided is exactly what my Saturn salesman told us when we purchased our Vue. He encouraged us to buy a V6 because of the problems some customers have had with their 4 cyl VTi. The 6 cyl engines are quite reliable and are rated well. Whatever the problem with the 4 cyl Vti, it is unique to that engine. Saturn Vues with V6 engines are wonderful cars! I'm planning to drive mine for years to come."

"Some viewer ratings on this site are giving all Saturn Vue power-train models a bad rap due to a problem (only) with the VTi variable speed transmission on 4-cylinder models built prior to 2005. The 6-cylinder automatics and the 4-cylinder manual transmissions perform very well. The 6-cylinder models prior to 2005 was actually designed by GM's Cadillac Division and built by GM-Europe in Germany and has been in service since the 1990's. It's a dual overhead cam, 24 valve, multi-port fuel injection engine that gets a solid 20 MPG city and 25 MPG highway and was way ahead of its time. It's coupled to a 5-speed automatic transaxle."

"I would recommend the Saturn Vue to anyone. They are attractive, safe cars and have more trunk space than most other SUVs this size. I love that they have a steel cage around them for safety. I can't speak for the 4 cyl models, but the V6 has pretty decent pick-up and the turning radius is great, which was not the case for the Saturn sedan I owned."

"I bought my 2003 Saturn Vue with VTi brand new. I am on my 3rd transmission with 57,000 miles and if I had the money, I would trade it in tomorrow. With each transmission replacement, Saturn gets more difficult to work with - and now that Saturn dealers everywhere are closing, the car is worth even less. PLease steer clear of this car."
