"I did not want a ?car? or ?suv? so I bought a used XB. The XB is for the person who wants something different. Drive it, you might like it."

"This a great vehicle. It has plenty of power, enormous interior space, Love it or Hate it styling, a great price, just about every option you could want as a family / commuter car. Mine is a 5 spd and mileage has averaged 27-29 which is much better than reported. I-Pod/ Aux input interface rocks! Downsides: Still don't really like the center mounted gauges Clutch take-up and and brake pedal orientation is odd. I have been driving standard for 30 years and have stalled this vehicle more in 2 years than all the other cars before! I'm looking now to buy another one!"

"We bought this car as a replacement for an '05 that was totalled. We have 88K on it and I've done nothing but oil chnages to it. OK, we are about to put our third set of tires on too. I have had no trouble with this car. If you can get past the fact that this car is ugly, it runs good. I was amazed at how well this car holds it's value. My wife doesn't like the fact that it has so much power (got caught doing 82). We average 24 MPG: mostly mountain driving on 2 lane roads."

"this year after doing alot of research i got myself an 08 scion xb. the thing that surprised me before i got it, was how many enthusiasts preferred the first gen xb to mine. i looked at those too and found them too square and bland on the inside and out with the 2nd gen being much improved all around and having a much better looking exterior. other than the rougher ride and mid 20mph average epa, i'm mostly satisfied with this car."

"This car was purchased for me from my parents as my first car, and i could not be more happy. Its really young, hip and cool, and my friends and i constantly have a blast whenever were in it! my parents got me my XB when i was 16 and it has always performed the exact same way since the day that we got it at the dealer. It's an EXTREMELY roomy car, and i constantly wish that the driver seat was in the back because the back seat is heaven when it comes to comfort, and for me being 6'1'' you cant even tell that im that tall and i dont complain at all. I bought my "bubbu" used but you would not even be able to tell. It runs like new (from factory) and looks amazing in and out! NEVER BE IN DOUBT WHEN IT COMES TO PURCHASING THIS CAR (or a scion in general) my brother has an XD and BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY IT WILL PAY OFF IN THE END. AND IF IT IS FOR A TEENAGER THAN EVEN BETTER, CAUSE MY FRIENDS AND I ARE NEVER EMBARASSED TO GET IN. IT ALSO DOESENT HURT THAT THE STEREO SYSTEM IS AMAZING ESPECIALLY WITH ALL THE HOOKUPS LIKE IPOD JACK. THE BEST CAR OUT THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"So I was torn between the xD and the xB because I've always wanted a Scion xB since they first came out. I test drove both and decided to go with the xB because of its performance and size. My xB came with the upgraded stereo, dvd players and other little nifty light up Scion logos. I love my stereo. I am an iPod and music fanatic so it is perfect for me. I can hook up my iPod so that I control it through my head unit and steering wheel controls or through the headphone jack and control the music with just the iPod. I like having options so this was really neat for me. The sound is amazing. Very clear highs (thanks to the two tweeters) and great sounding bass! I was also surprised by the performance of the vehicle. It is quite quick which is very good for merging. Be advised though, this has an effect on your gas mileage. Compared to the xD and the previous model xB the gas mileage is not so good. If this is a problem for you the car has a feature that will tell you how much MPG you are getting constantly as you drive, which allows you to learn more fuel efficient driving techniques. The standard features like the stereo, cruise control, power doors and windows (all 4 windows, unlike my old Neon!) and keyless entry are always nice. Also the fact that I'm 6'5 and I don't even need to have the seat back all the way is great! Even sitting straight up I don't come anywhere near hitting my head. It has massive amounts of cargo space with the fold down back seats. It's also a great Mini-Van substitute for Dads who don't wanna look like a complete dork. I can fit myself and 4 of my adult friends for road trips and have everyone be quite comfy! To sum up, like the title says, I wouldn't drive anything else. I plan to keep this vehicle until it dies (which could be a long time since it's a Toyota) or until Scion puts out something cooler, which is also quite likely. Last thing: Be sure to shop around, even if it's just on this site, because I checked this site every day or two for a few weeks and found one with very low mileage for 1K less than every other dealership. Don't settle for a high mileage xD if you don't have to!"

My wife's car

"My wife uses this car mostly to drive to work and such. I use it occasionally. We had the '05, but after it was totaled we bought the new one. We've got 66K miles on it already. the '05 got much better mileage, but the newer version is bigger: inside and out. I could live without the 2.3L engine, but it is fun going up hills and passing everyone. My only complaint would be the driving comfort. It's a little bumpy; but then it is a small car right? We get 24-26mpg with a mixture of city and hiway driving. We sometimes put 3 kids across the back seat, but I would hate to try it with adults. The passenger seat has no arm rest, and the one for the driver isn't anything to get excited about. The little bit of padding in it soom wears out and you don't hardly use it. The resale value is incredible. If you can even find a used one, they are not that much cheaper than a new one unless it's been wrecked or has a lot of miles on it. A bigger gas tank would be nice. The 12 gallon tank doesn't go very far: maybe 300 miles. We end up fueling 3-4 times a week as we put 700-800 miles a week minimum on this car. Hope this helps."

Hearse to Scion

"Okay, this is not your typical review of a vehicle. Before I purchased this car I had previously owned a 1977 Cadillac Hearse. A car that weighs as much as the Queen Mary and has the same turning radius. I purchased the 2008 Scion xB after quite a bit of research, mostly because I was dropping $250+ a month on gas for the hearse. I have now tripled my mileage! (okay, I drove a hearse that made 8 or 9 mpg, so triple isn't much) The Scion xB is hands down the best car I've ever owned (I've had 8 in the last 15 years). If you're not a credit hazard you can reasonably buy this bit of awesome for about $300 a month. It actually accelerates quite nicely when you push on the pedal, as opposed to convincing the hearse to please move forward. It has an amazing array of safety features that are all standard. It also is just a fun car! I could care less what other people think of the way it looks, I personally get a big stupid smile on my face every day I get in and drive it. I really only have one real complaint about this car. I have already jammed about 7000 miles on it in less than 5 1/2 months including several long trips, after about 2 hours behind the wheel I get a bit of a shoulder ache. The arm rests are ridiculously low on the seat and I can't stay comfortable past the 150 mile mark without stopping because I start to slouch. It should be noted that I'm about 6' 1" and 300lbs and I have NO PROBLEMS getting in and out of this car. It is only the long distance trips that can be a pain. Buy enough ibuprofen and energy drinks, and this problem soon ceases to exist. This car is unique, has a lot of cargo space, and (in my case) has the most awesome of extras: the direct link of an ipod to the stereo. I'm sure it could go faster and whatnot, but I do mostly city driving. Furthermore the mileage rating on the sticker is pretty accurate. I personally (after getting a taste of what a new car could do) wouldn't mind a little more punch from the engine. But since they already made the engine bigger, and we don't have an autobahn in Nebraska, I'm okay with what I've got. I would not hesitate for an instant to recommend this car to pretty much anybody I know, as well as absolute strangers on the street."

"I must admit that I am not a fan of the 1st generation Scion Xb. The 2nd gen Xb has changed my thinking about Toyota's lunch box-gen x cult car. I needed a reliable, practical and affordable family car and my 2008 Scion Xb has all bases well covered. When shopping around, my options were boiled down to: Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris, Matrix or Corolla, Suzuki Sx4, Honda Fit and Civic. When you compare numbers The Xb trumps all class competitors with class leading power, interior volume, standard appointments and best overall value. Honestly, style took a back seat to functionality when I made up my mind on the Xb, however the "box" has grown on me and I get lots of compliments. Inside the Xb theres plenty of room for my 6'1" frame in both the front and back seats. I loaded My Girlfriend, 2 children, My Pit Bull Petey and 3 days worth of camping gear - drove 500 miles round trip without complaint or worry. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. There are only minor quirks to complain about: The center gauge stack still takes some getting used to, the doors "slam" a little violently when windows are open, "J" style auto-shift gate isn't very intuitive and road noise came be a little boomy at times (probably due to somewhat stiff suspension). Dislikes are few, especially when considering what I get for 16k sticker price. * On a side note, reliability was obviously paramount which is why I primarily stuck with Japanese brands. I've owned and worked on many makes and models, its just hard to beat the Japanese in the subcompact market-speaking from my own experience."

"I had a 1999 Honda CRV, & the interior space is just about the same. Nice pick-up & comfy ride. Great standard features. Nice little "wagon" that still feels like both a car & a SUV. Great value and nice premium radio with a little boom."
