"I picked up the 2009 smart new in december 2008. I drive ALOT because of my business. Coming from a Lexus SC to to the smart car is a hug difference but not in a bad way. The car has saved me quite a bit of money for example... 46.8mpg on my last fill up! I got rear ended @10mph and also got backed into in a parking lot on the drivers side door and NO DAMAGE! not even a scratch! The doors do not dent easily at all, if that was my lexus the repair bill would be $500+ I take it on the highway all the time at 70-80mph and the only time there is a little instability is if the wind is blowing 20+moh. The only thing I think they should improve is.. 1. offer regular gas option 2. bring diesel to the US 3. cruise control (dones not come with, but you can get it) 4. number of available smart centers in the US, I do all the work myself but it would be great to have one thats closer than a 2.5hr drive away. Overall the car has saved me a ton of money on gas and repair bills/maintinance bills. Solid car."

"I think this car was aimed to be a fun car, but it isn't as fun as any other car I've seen. The inside is sort of cramped and there is barely any cargo room."

"No, this car is not a Cadillac, so don't expect it to ride like one. No it's not an SUV or station wagon or pickup truck, so don't expect it to perform like one. Even though it's a 2-seater, don't expect it to perform like a Corvette. I didn't, and now I'm completely thrilled with my smart fortwo. Had it for 7 months, 6000 miles. No problems. Averaging 38.5 MPG (which includes all winter with snow tires, mostly around town driving. Have gotten 44.53 MPG. Uses 91 octane, which costs 20 to 30 cents more per gallon, so it costs me about $1.00 to $1.80 more per fillup -- I can take that. Bumpy roads = bumpy ride, smooth roads = smooth ride. Lots of smiles from everybody I see."

"This is our second Smart car. We drive it mainly in the city and love the way it handles. We are comparing it to our Lexus SC430 and our Toyota Sienna. It is definitely not a Lexus, but I drive the Smart most of the time. It has an automatic and a manual transmission mode. The manual mode is what makes this car fun to drive. Think of driving a go cart... The driver/passenger compartment is very comfortable. The heated seats are comfortable and warm up much quicker than our Lexus or Toyota. Your comfort suffers when driving on an expressway due to the very short wheel base....pretty bumpy. Great mileage! Y"

"Had the Smart for almost 1& 1/2 years 18K miles. So far no mechanical problems.I commute 60+ mi @ day so this car is saving me bucks. I consistantly get 40 MPG. The car flies and easily cruise at 70+ on the interstate no problem. Snow is a no no as far as I'm concerned. Not going thre I'll use my 4x4 in that weather.Did get the passion so with all the extras it came to a little over 19K. Thought that was high for this car, but hoped to make it up on gas savings. In CT. I did not have to pay sales tax on this car YEPPEE!! It does hold the road well but in extreme wind it stays in the garage. Recently took a trip to VT. a 5 hr ride and did not come across another smartie.Maybe on the wet coast there are more on the road, but in New England not too many."

"More passenger room, enough storage behind the seats for a week's worth of groceries, what's not to like? Reliable, great gas mileage, and it's a convertible at the touch of a button (at any speed). On the highway 80 mph is not a problem. The most fun is when people either pull up to take a picture, or they speed up because they can't believe this little car is passing them. At 41-45 mpg, it's everything one could ask for in a small, fun, fuel efficient means of transportation."

"I have had this car for nearly a year, and I love it! Smart is a perfect second/third car for our family which includes a Suburban that we drive only when hauling a load, and a Camry hybrid. This is the car I take everywhere, since my life is 90% commuting to work, doing errands, and traveling around the metroplex. In the drivers seat, I love the roomy interior space, the high eye level position vis a vis other cars, and parking flexibility. There is surprising space for groceries, golf clubs, etc. It is still a bumpy ride on bad roads, and high winds on a lonesome highway are a challenge. It is a city car."
