"Have the 2.5i sedan with the premium package. If you want all wheel drive and don't have A4 dollars to spend, this is the most bang for your buck you are going to get. The handling of AWD and the safety of the VDC make this an easy choice. The 4 speed auto needs an upgrade and I can see a CVT transmision finding its way to the next Impreza generation. But it does the job. The stereo is fine, not great. A bit too much plastic on the doors, and the rear looks a bit bland on the sedan. Overall I average about 23 MPG. Moving a 3113 pound AWD vehicle those numbers are to be expected."

"The subaru impreza WRX STi has over 300hp, I am not sure why other reviews keep saying it only has 170. Also the '08 and up goes 0 to 60 in 4.7 seconds.. Car drives great and looks great, any one who tells you differenty hasnt owned or driven one!! Go out to the dealer ship and test drive one and see the power and the style that this car has... you wont me sorry.. I know I am not!!!"

Most (all?) reviewers reviewed wrong model

"Message to reviewers: If you have less than 6 speeds in your tranny and less than 300+ HP under the hood (stock!) you're not reviewing The STI! My guess is your ratings would go up much, much higher. The car is stellar for the money. Come rain or snow there is simply no competition on the road - you own it. You move in trafic at will, regardless of what the jerks in manure-holers (trucks) think or do. That's rather satisfying. Reliability for now 100% (knock in the wood), daily commute 21 MPG, much more spacious than previous year models (important for all westernframers like myself), very civil, excellent handling (clover leaf exits from interstates are taken effortlessly at above 40 ... that's when you see other cars start to wiggle), very substantial fun quotient. I'm glad I bough it and would highly recommend to anyone (my wife loves it too, my friends hate it - it eats most mustangs for breakfast :-)."

Unimpressive Impreza

"As stated in other reviews, the car feels solid, but the choice of interior plastics are on the lower end. They are stylish, but I don't think they will look good with 5 years of wear. The 170 hp engine sounds very nice even at high revs, but with the awd, the actual 0-60 seems sluggish. The gas mileage was less than impressive for the size of vehicle. I am averaging 23 mpg for a mix of highway 70% and city 30%. An all wheel drive CRV or RAV 4 does better than that and has twice the cargo space of the sedan. The basic stereo sounds like the speakers are inside a tin can and with no mp3 player connectivity means it has to go. Subaru lovers will like this car, but the average person that doesn't love a car based on the manufacturer, rather the car itself will probably pass this one up."

Forget Honda And Toyota

"As soon as you approach this vehicle you notice something you no longer see in Hondas and Toyotas, Quality. In the ISO quality control world Subaru can be proud of their black belt. Open the door and you will feel the difference in the handle. The handle doesn't jiggle like my 07 civic and the door does not fly open. It feels like you are opening a door to a vw (car junkies know what I mean). Look underneath the wheel well and you will notice that the rust proofing is spread evenly w/o bare spots. Open the hood and you will find gas assisted lifts for the hood. Wrap your hands around the leather steering wheel with PERFECT stitching. Start the engine and the car rocks as it comes to life in a very sexy lets drive now kinda way. The instrument panel has a modern, sporty , yet simple display that won't hurt your eyes after 200k miles. The 5spd has grunt as it is very hard to stall and still has lots of fun to offer the experienced manual driver. Drive down the road and you will wonder if the car is running, this car is amazingly quiet! Very minimal tire noise you can use your speaker phone mode w/ ease. The radio is ample, not a lot of bass here but you don't need it to cover up that road noise like other cars. Techies the ipod upgrade is wonderful, worth the extra money. Take a turn or go from a dead stop around a turn and you will be impressed. Handling is very impressive due to the awd and prowertrain setup. The seats are supportive and you will actually feel your legs when you get out. I have the black and silver color combo and it gets looks, and people take interest in its quirky sporty nature. Black is hard to maintain but if you know how to properly care for it, it looks great with its blue fleck. This car has so many positives there are too many to mention, but I think you get the point. My mpg is a true 29-31. Not bad considering its awd and larger engine than the competition. Put this car on your must test drives and you will be impressed!"

"The 2008 Subaru Impreza gives you the best value for your money. With 170 hp, this car has enough zip to get you into trouble and get you out of sticky situations, yet not enough to cost lots of $$$ in insurance and fuel costs. Stylish and fun; this car is a must have."

"But I do do love my subie! Mine is an 08 hatchback with the premium package. Pros: The Symmetrical AWD (obviously), styling, versatility, and features. I love that the rear seats fold flat - it gives you a ton of cargo space. My personal favorite was the addition (to the premium package) of an Ipod interface. This connects directly into the head-unit and can be controlled by the stearing wheel volume and track channels. The interface cord is nicely hidden in the center console/arm rest. Totally wire-free (view) and direct access to my whole collection - amazing! If I were to nit-pick, I would say the auto-transmission could use some refinement. I find it drops into both 2nd and 3rd too soon, leaving you searching for a power band...making the auto stick a neccesity for freeway on-ramps etc. The front seats sit too low, which is not a problem for the driver, since it has an adjustable height lever, however the passenger is left wondering why they are riding on the road (no adjustable height lever)...especially since there is plenty of headroom. Overall, it's fun, distinct and versatile. Love, love, love."

"I bought the Outback Sport. I think it's the best looking Impreza model. Loaded with features.Interior plastics are cheap and scratch easy. Engine is noisy, radio controls are small. Overall the car is just average for the price, wouldn't buy another."

"I actually previously owned a 2000 Subaru Outback Sport and have to say they've tweaked a lot of things over the past 8 years. The handling feels much better with less body roll than the previous model. Fuel economy is also a big plus. Interior is very stylish and offers a bit more legroom for the rear passengers. For the money, this is one solid car."
