"This is my first Subaru and I can already tell that it won't be my last. I have only had it for a couple of weeks now, but I love it. I traded in my giant SUV because I was looking for better gas mileage, something fun to drive and good in the snow. The crash test ratings are a huge seller for me. Also the ground clearance and stability control, which comes standard in 2009. I bought the base model and I plan on adding some convenience features to it. The only gripe I have is that I wanted a sunroof, which can't be added later. Only the limited models have them and I didn't want the leather seats and the big price tag that comes with it. But oh well. The cars handling is excellent and I drive mountain roads a lot. The 2.5 liter is plenty of power for me. The outback is great for hauling gear, dogs and just everyday items. I can't wait to test it out in the snow! So far I really enjoy the car and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to downsize from their giant SUV."

"My wife just purchased a 2009 Outback after driving a host of others, both "crossovers" and sedans. She has a half-hour drive morning and afternoon to her job, and really wanted the safety of the all-wheel drive and traction control. She loves to sit up high, but did not want to drive a large SUV again like the one she traded in. She loves the sporty feel and beautiful two-tone dark and light gray exterior. She also feels good on the 17" wheels. In fact, she sat in the garage last night and played her I-pod on the wonderful Subaru radio with the wireless hookup! (We just picked it up two days ago!) We both love this vehicle--I'd had a Forrester about 6 years ago. She keeps a vehicle a long time, and this is the vehicle for that decision. She is a very careful looker, and this won out over several others. This Outback--for us, anyway--is a great marriage of automobile and SUV. We are both approaching 60 and retirement if that helps!"

"We crunched all the criteria. We were looking for the safest car. We wanted all wheel drive. We needed a car that could carry lots of stuff from the home store. It had to be stylish and perform well. And most of all we wanted a car that would haul our kayaks. All roads lead to a Forester. After driving both we chose the Outback. We live in Hot Springs Arkansas. There isn't a reputable dealer close to us so we had to drive to Fayeteville. So if you are a looking for a AWD safe car you really can't go wrong with any of the Subaru line."

"At my age of 55 I could have bought just about any vehicle I wanted. But to me, most cars are a waste of money unless you can get real value through longevity and reliability. I wanted something that would be safe, reliable, have a good ride, handle well and be good on gas. So I bought an 2009 Outback with 8000 miles on it. I look foward to getting into this car every day. It's really a great car. It's quite roomy, rides great, handles like some sports cars I've tested and the engine has good power. I get 24-25mpg around town and I've gotten 30mpg on the highway at 70 mph. This crossover wagon is extremely quiet inside even at high speeds. I've had lots of cars but so far, the Outback has impressed me(& my wife) the most."

"One of four Subarus I own, the Outback does not disappoint. "Limited Offroad Capability"? Yeah, if you compare it to a Jeep or another SUV (which the Outback isn't), but compare it to any other station wagon (which is is) and it shames the competition off road. With almost 9" of ground clearance there are very few roads the outback can't venture down. The seats are superb, I drove from Missouri to Alaska in five days in comfort. It has over 30,000 miles (less than a year old) and so far nothing has gone wrong. One of my Subarus has over 200,000 miles on its original engine and I am sure this Outback will reach that if taken care of. I would only trade my Outback for another one."

"This is my 7th subaru I have owned and the best! The 3.0 has the best ride and less road noise then the 2.5 subaru. I live in the mountains and have no trouble with the many hills I have to drive alone with the snow and ice. I'll let someone else drive the Hybrids and electric plug ins! LOL"

"I'm 6'-4" and I fit in the Subaru best out of all the small cars out there. I sit comfortable in it, but after about a 2 hour drive I need to stretch my legs, I wish the seat had about 1 more inch of backward travel. But in similar vehicles my knees were against the dash. Handling is excellent. Some reviews have said "limited offroad capabilities,"I say it is at home off road! It may not have the most power, but it is the most safe, smoothest riding, best handling car in it's class."

"love the sound system, superb. the added sports shift is a real plus. torque is better than previous models. steering wheel telescopes! both passenger and driver seats are fully motorized and heated. passenger and driver have their own heating and air conditioning settings. only regret not enough storage space in front cabin and no hooks for storage nets, though comes with them when you order but you have to install."
