Consumer Reviews
"We recently purchased our first Subaru (Outback Wagon). We are very pleased. Mileage was estimated at 30 mpg highway. Yesterday our car registered 36 mpg. on the highway and we average over 30 if we keep the speed from 65 - 70. The four cylinder is quick enough, spacious, sturdy, and fun to drive. Stereo isn't great (3 stars), but good enough. One quirk -- it is so air tight, the incoming air hurts the drivers ears when a back window is open on the highway. Also, at night when low beams are on, there is a shadowy veil across the top part of the windshield."

"Although I have looked at Subarus before, they weren't quite big enough for everything we needed to haul for our boat. That all changed with the new, redesigned 2010 Outback. More cargo space than my 04 CRV, better quality interior and more amenities. It also gets much better mileage than I thought it would, almost 26 mpg combined! And the ride is quiet, smooth and comfortable. It just feels like a well engineered car. The only thing that takes time to get used to is the sound of the CVT...very little noise, no revving up and then down when it shifts."

"Too many plusses to list but here are a few: Versatile for hauling yard stuff, camping and kayak gear, long distance traveling. Good gas mileage for a car its size. Love showing the convertible roofrack to friends. Can carry four kayaks and then fold back into place to improve gas mileage. 10 way adjustable seat has many combinations to adjust for long road trips. Many places to stow items, Great legroom. Love the paddle shifters with the automatic transmission."

"I recently purchased a 2010 Outback. Initial impression is.....I love this vehicle. Stylish..inside and out. Handling is great. Plenty of power with the 4 cylinder. Thousands less for equivalent vehicles with the same options. I have had it long enough to give a review of the reliability but I am expecting to drive this vehicle for 200,000 miles. I can't wait for the snow."

"I purchased a fully loaded 2.5 Subaru Outback two weeks ago and simply love it. I spend way to much time trying to figure out what new car would best fit my needs, I struggled with how much to spend, mileage versus power, size versus convenience, brand and image, and somehow I made the correct choice. My previous car was a Mercedes C320 small wagon with a V6 engine that got reasonable mileage but cost a fortune to have any type of service done to it. I wanted a car that looked great, had a nice interior, had enough technology (bluetooth, navigation, auto lights, auto dimming rear mirror, compass, etc.) and got good gas mileage and the Outback had it all. The size is also perfect, I feel good in it alone and yet I have had five adults in it and they all said they were comfortable. The image issue was important since I receive a car allowance from work and the Outback passes with flying colors. Most executives have BMW's but I love my Outback. I really struggled with deciding on the 2.5 versus the 3.6 and after 2000 miles I am glad I chose the 2.5, I get better mileage and the CVT transmission keeps things very smooth. I went over the Grapevine (elevation about 5000 at top) and had no power concerns. The bluetooth is fabulous and I totally love it, my Iphone picke up on it instantly. The navigation was tougher to learn but I am pretty good with it now, lots of points of interest ability and really clear while driving. They don't let you enter destinations while driving but they do allow you to touch the screen while moving and have it direct you to that location. Oh! my wife and daughter love the heated front seat and we live in California! Imagine how much that would be loved in Buffalo! Dealer was easy to work with, got a reasonable discount, they are in high demand here and I waited a week for it to arrive. Totally happy with the choice. Reliability and dealer services and all that will become clear in the future."

"Third Subaru we have owned and this 2010 is better than ever. First long trip (500 miles in one day) over mountain passes was made with ease and comfort even for the rear seat passenger. At about 75 MPH averaged about 27 MPG which I considered reasonable at that speed. Power and heated seats, auto rearview mirror, 6 spd CV Transmission, and on and on for $26,000. Our 2002 Forrester, which was still running like a top, went to our daughter. Trans and motor built in Japan but unit assembled in US (would have bought a total US made care if I would have found one comparable at the price.) --No complaints."

"No other car maker has one like this! I wanted to support Ford because they took NO government hand-outs, unlike Chevy and Chrysler. I like Honda's, too. No one had/has a vehicle like the outback - which meets most all of my current needs!"
