Paint, Finish and Warranty Not Good

"If you read the fine print on the warranty, you will see that anything falling from the sky, including rain and snow is not covered under the warranty. Now if a tree or nuclear fallout fell on my car I wouldn?t expect Subaru to cover that, but the finish should be able to stand up to everyday elements like rain. In my case the chrome finish did not stand up to normal rain and sun, and it is not covered. I also had tree sap eat through the paint, and Subaru would not cover that either. Given the marketing of this car for outdoor adventures, the paint should be able to stand up to normal pine sap. The paint on my wife?s Suzuki held up just fine. So, if you plan to beat your car up, don?t worry about this. But, if you want it to look nice, try another brand."

"I have owned the 2013 Subaru Special Appearance Package for 3 weeks today and it's been great so far. I really like the key free feature. Gas mileage seems to be right on so far. The seats are really comfortable which was one of the selling features for me vs. the Mazda. Seems very solid. Never thought i would buy a Subaru, but I'm pleased that i did!"

"I have owned my 2013 Outback 3.6R Limited for 3 weeks and so far the car exceeds my expectations. This is an absolutely wonderful vehicle in every way. Wonderful to drive and ride in. Where to start? The 3.6 liter boxer-six is a gloriously smoth, quiet and powerful engine and still gets decent fuel econmy for this size of vehicle. The car feels solid all over. The suspension works smoothly over bumbs and the ride is very comfortable, and still the handling is fairly agile. Comfortable seats, awesome sound system. I love the bluetooth, the usb port, the HD radio and the satellite radio. Many other great features. After thorough research, no other 4 wheel drive family vehicle could match this Subaru. So far no problems whatsoever."

"This outback is really fun to drive, handles great on curvy mountain roads, drives like a husky dog in deep snow, that is it just digs in and mows through it without a second thought. So cool! Very comfortable on long trips and again, just a pleasure to drive. The extra power makes it so much safer in passing and the jet take off feeling is a trip. I feel safe in any weather and road conditions and any kind of traffic. Very responsive car. I do slow down driving on ice, you can't blame the car if you have a crash on ice! The interior is very nice and the heated seats are a pleasure. Would recommend a Subaru to anyone."

"Just got this vehicle and my wife just simply loves it. The handling is superb, full time all wheel drive is real nice in our weather. Ride is quiet and comfortable, really easy to see all around, no blind spots. Have all the bells and whistles, with special appearance package. Was not my first choose, but i am pleased with our decision. Hope this helps."

"I have had two Foresters (2001; 2002) and waited until Subaru came up with a comfortable model with enough to make me trade in. Previous Foresters were great handling, but had some recent mechanical issues-not uncommon-and the 2013 Outback made me decide. The other options (Acura, Lexus) were 12k+ more. I saved that with my selection. It has enough interior room (more than Highlander-which is V-6 and large outside)."

Will replace next year - too many issues

"I purchased my 2013 Outback last month, and was very excited as I had done a great deal of research and narrowed my search down to this vehicle and the Toyota Venza. I liked the styling of the Outback a bit better, and the price much lower than the Limited Venza, so I went with the Outback. First, I have to say that the 2.5 engine is amazing! The engine is spunky, and the CVT transmission is much quieter than the 2012 Outback I test drove last year. The car handles quite well on tight turns, and is fun to drive. Great torque when you need it. Also, the special leather used on the Special Appearance Package is very attractive. That being said, there are two issues with the vehicle that really take away from the enjoyment of driving the car and regretting purchasing it in the first place. The first issue is that the Harmon/Kardon "upgraded" audio system presents a noticeable hiss when doing certain functions with the audio/nav unit. For example, when I am programming my nav unit each time I press a button I hear a hiss that gets louder, than softer. Same with when I am talking to someone using the bluetooth phone. Each time the person talks a noticeable hiss gets a bit louder than goes quiet again. I am finding this very disappointing, and after doing some research on online forums, this issue has been reported by many owners and around since 2011 and has still not been addressed by Subaru. It just makes the car feel cheap and the noise is annoying. The other issue is a very noticeable "clunk" noise when releasing the brake pedal when at a complete stop. This issue started at about 1,000 miles, and I am trying to ignore it, but it is very noticeable, and again, really takes away from the driving experience of this vehicle. The online forums also confirm that this is widespread and an issue that has been around since 2011, and has not been addressed by Subaru. Very, very disappointing. I am planning on driving this car for a year to pay down the loan a bit, and then most likely trade it in next year for either a Toyota Venza or an Acura RDX. I would gladly spend the extra money on either of those vehicles to avoid the quality issues of the Outback that have not been reported since 2011 and not addressed by Subaru."

"Although we can't stand our local dealer and actually crossed state lines to look for and purchase our new car, this is our fourth Subaru. We almost bought our third Honda, a CRV from a very reputable local dealer, Ray Price, but when we found we could get a brand new Outback wagon for less than $1,000 more, the choice was clear. Subaru has what we like. It was time to put our second Subaru, a 1996 Legacy Outback, to rest at 258,000 miles and move into the luxury of the 21st century Subaru technology. What a quiet, solid, controled, responsive automobile. And we got to keep the manual transmission, nothin like the response of a stick shift...Plus there's six gears now, more fun!!! So our 2007 Impreza with 180,000 now becomes the old timer. Still, it's got another two, three years on it...four...five..."

"After researching small suvs, crossovers decided to test drive the outback first. This car sold itself we went no further with looking and bought this car in Sept. Four months and 4000 miles later very happy with car no problems. Only complaint is gas mpg a little lower than epa est. 23 city 28 hiway. Hope mpg improves as car is broken in. Still would have purchased with this mpg"
