A fun collectors' car that never caught on

Released from 1991-1997, with only 14,000 sold in the USA and about 25,000 world-wide. This car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro (one of the greatest designers in the last 25 years); his cars include the DeLorean, Detomaso, Ferrari, Fiat, Audi, Alpha Romeo, Lamborghini, etc. The split window design, AWD, Boxer engine (largest size Subaru ever made in it's day: 3.3L), suede interior, Xenon lights, Airbags, etc. were premium standard features. However, due to poor sales, high cost, automatic transmission and poor breaks, the car never caught on; especially if you compare it to it's rivals of the time: Nissan 300 and Mitsubishi 3000GT Parts are moderately hard to find as this car did not share a platform with other Subarus. Reliability is positively on par with other Subaru vehicles (something that Subaru is famous for). The drive is comfortable, smooth and surefooted; more like a GT car than a sports car. Look for the following issues to be addressed: 1. updated cooling system for the transmission 2. bearings should be repacked and updated 3. air-conditioner should serviced 4. break rotors updated (heavy car that can warp the breaks if abused). Lastly, be prepared to explain to people who ask, "what is that?"
