"After thoroughly researching the Avalon and its competitors, including the Camry, we settled on the Avalon for overall quality and fuel economy expectations. Our expectations on the overall quality and design of the car have easily been met. However, it is the fuel economy that exceeded our highest expectations. After owning the car for one month and driving for 2600 miles, we are averaging 45.6 MPG in mixed driving (about 60% highway and 40% city). All we can say about the mileage is "WOW". It's not often when a car exceeds one's expectations. In addition, the pickup is great and the overall driving experience has been a special pleasure."

Best of the full size Hybrids

"Great handling, spirited when in sport mode, comfortable and luxurious. Before you make your final decision, you must try the competition including the slightly smaller in interior Camry. The options you pay for in the Camry is standard in the Avalon. Quality in all areas. Best large sized hybrid that meets luxury standards without the luxury prices. Great thigh leg support, especially if you have tried the Camry. Mpg is on the money and when you get used to the accelerator you will maximize your fuel consumption. The electric vehicle mode is ok, but when you drive over 25 mph it goes to the Eco mode. You can use the Eco mode for all driving and truly max out your mpg. Overall a very roomy interior, with the luxury of a Lexus and the price of a Toyota. You must rember Toyota is the leader in the Hybrid technology and all other car companies are years behind or are working off of Toyotas technology. Excellent car, features and price if you know how to negotiate. Plus only shop at the end of the month. You will get best price then!"

"I wasn't looking to buy a car, I just wanted to see and test drive the new Avalon. Besides I loved my Venza. But they gave me so much for my Venza that I had to buy the new Avalon. The car is great on all accounts, however the windows did not come as tinted as my Venza was so I did have to take it in and have the windows tinted. I am getting 38 mpg combined and that is pretty close to what was expected, but I do have to drive fairly conservative to keep this mpg going. A comfortable ride. Not quite as much room as my Venza, but I should manage. I'm good for the next 4 or 5 years."

"I owned Toyotas prior to 1996. For the following 17 years I have owned a Mercedes and a BMW. The Avalon give great gas mileage with regular gas, handles almost as good as the German cars and has virtually all of the technology that you could ever ask for without the premium price. It is extremely quiet, very comfortable seats and the doors swing out far for easy access."

"Our new Toyto Avalon Hybrid has been totally fantastic to drive and the MPG is very close to estimated on sticker. We have averaged 37+ so far on 1500+ miles driven. We are very pleased with the Avalon so far. Comfort is also pleasing. We are still discovering how to operate everything that comes with it."

"I have owned a Mercedes and a BMW each for 17 years. I felt it was time for a new car. This car drives as good as the MB and is more comfortable and quiet than either one. I love all of the electronics as well as the roomy interior. The only thing that i have had a bit of a problem is with my iPhone 5 and Pandora. I think I have solved it. I have only had one fill up and got 40 mpg. Considering the tank might not have been full and it was left idling prior to me taken ownership I am very impressed."

"The newly redesigned Avalon, available now as V6 or hybrid, is a sleek and fun-to-drive car. I am dedicated to having a hybrid, and am thrilled that this technology is now available in the Avalon. I traded my 2000 Avalon with 184,000 miles, sad to lose it, but now thrilled with the new car."

"I am very pleased with the purchase of my 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid. I opted to go with the Limited edition in Pearl White with the beige interior. Lovely combination and the car looks incredible. I purchased the vehicle three days ago and already have taken a trip from Pittsburgh to Chicago for business. 650 miles so far, 34MPG (outside temp has been in the low 20's so I expect MPG will improve). Car drives great but I do prefer, and nearly always have it in "Sport" mode. Really tightens up the steering and handling with terrific road feedback. Wish the seats were a tab bit more comfortable and more form fitting with stronger thigh support. But overall, they are much better than I had expected from Toyota. The technology embedded in the vehicle is astounding. Blind spot awareness, adaptive cruise control, navigation/sound/phone/USB connectivity....impressive, although cell phones paired to the system have a somewhat tinny sound. Build quality of this vehicle is impeccable, and it is built in the USA!!! Really glad I took the plunge and went for the hybrid. Considered the VW Passat diesel but estimated milage was similar to the Avalon Hybrid. Plus and added bonus.... the Avalon uses less expensive regular gas as opposed to the premium priced diesel fuel."
