"I bought my 2006 Touring instead of the XLS because the Touring handles better and the car is silver and with the XLS it would have been orange wood and the touring has silver. The gas mileage is over 27 most of the time. The car has been reliable except for the recalls. I have a problem with the back seat not going down and Toyota is saying it will cost 300 to fix. I was supprised that there is no IPOD or Satelite radio, compass or heated mirrors. My 2004 Taurus has heated lighted mirrors and a compass."

"LEASED MY AVALON IN 06 STILL THINK OF IT AS A NEW CAR. AT LEASE END I WILL BUY THE CAR. I CANNOT VISUALIZE A NICER OR MORE COMFORTABLE CAR. THE ONLY THING I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IS A FOLD DOWN REAR SEAT. THIS CAR HAS POWER, SPEED, COMFORT, LOOKS AND MOST OF ALL IT GIVES ME AND MY FAMILY A GREAT FELLING OF SAFETY."

"I love the car. It gets better mileage than posted, runs down faster cars, and has a great sound system. My tilt wheel is bad (fixed once and still lets go on the telescopic part) and the driver seat hurts my back on a long drive (2 hours or more). Besides that, the car has room to spare, great mechanics, and is fun to drive. The sunroof lets in no air so can have it open in the cold of night or heat of day. IT is a great car."

"We have a 2006 Limited w/everything and we're so glad we do. I sold a Mercedes & BMW as soon as we got this one and have our other BMW & Lexus for sale. We're actually looking @ a 2010 Avalon Ltd. as a replacement. I am a car junkie and have always owned Jags(6) Mercedes(9)BMW(4) Lexus LS (2)and other assorted wonders; this Avalon is the PICK OF THE LITTER; Drive it, you'll know what I mean."

"In 2006 I went to get the new style Camry and I saw the Avalon made a deal and the Manager of that dealership killed the deal and I went to another and picked up a Limited and a mouth later my son picked up him one a touring model so that salesmen lost two sales, I am coming up on 97000 miles and just had the plugs changed and have not had one problem with the car and have driven it ever where and it is my daily driver of 80 miles round trip,I am in the market for another car because I get one every three years and I will get the 2010 Camry SE which is the best mid size car on the market barr none and I purchased my wife a 2008 Mazda 3 not to long ago and she don't what me to part with the Avalon so she want to keep it and get rid of the Mazda that is how much she like it and she is not into cars,it's all about the car and Toyota is topps in my book and I have had a lot of cars in my life time Acuras to Oldsmobile about 22 cars to be frank and Toyota ranks the highest, you can spend a lot on BMW,Audi,Mercedes that I consider and with the high cost of their up keep and the low cost of my Toyota how can you beat that."

Why Did I Buy This Car?

"I purchased my white 2006 Avalon just before 2007, so that I would save big money with Toyotathon. I actually wasted a lot of money when I purchased this car. It looked like a great car to me. Big and roomy, nice ergonomics, lots of features, and excellent gas millage. About 9,000 miles into my ownership, the Avalon started to show its true colors. The stereo got all fuzzy and then just stopped working. That same week, the navigation screen cracked when the car got to cold. The dealership took care of both, all though they were not very customer friendly. I also became disappointed with the cars fit and finish. The exterior has a lot of plastic, and the paint scratches really easily. The interior has these neat folding compartments on the radio buttons, but they don't close anymore. Everything inside the car looks like it was made out of the cheapest possible materials, and the silver trim on the door panel has fallen off on the passenger side. While I do get 30 miles per gallon on the highway, the car requires premium! The sunroof also malfunctioned and will not open up anymore, which is a real disappointment. At 26,780 miles I was really disappointed, so I traded it in and purchased a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ, which I love. It has a beautiful interior with nice materials, a big trunk, big cabin, and I still get 30 miles per gallon on the highway, but this car only need regular. I would strongly recommend that you do not purchase or lease an Avalon. Try a Chevy Malibu, Ford Taurus, or Chrysler 300 instead."

"This car isn't a best buy. The lexus es class is a better buy. The Toyota Avalon 2005-2007 has many problems and the 2008-2009 Toyota Avalon had made changes I'd perfer to get the 2008-2009 Toyota Avalon has better performance and its a better buy but I suggest to get either the lexus es because the Toyota Avalon is a replica of the Lexus es but the Toyota Avalon is cheaper. Good Luck on your choice take my word and you will be satisfied. I owned an Avalon didn't like it, it was hard to sell but still got a rid of it with a big loss and I got the new Lexus es and im satisfied with lexus."

"The Toyota Avalon isn't a good purchase. Except maybe for the 2008 and and the 2009 Avalon. Due to the 2005-2007 had many problems and the new 2008 and 2009 had many changes and the new look with the grill and the headlights. This Toyota Avalon is not as great what will be a better worth buying is the Toyota Camry 2007-2009. Good look, performance, and reliable. Good Luck"
