"I am averaging between 42 and 50 MPG with my hybrid in mixed traffic! This car drives like a regular car, not like a Prius hybrid, and it has plenty of pick up. I love how it handles, and how it looks inside, I have the XLE and it is as nice an interior for the money I have seen. A few years ago I test drove a Camry and was not impressed. This 7th generation is a whole new ballgame!"

"Have only had the car for a little over a month, but so far it has met or exceeded all expectations. We are averaging about 40 mpg with quite a bit of highway driving. It actually gets better mileage in town. We have not had a single problem with the car. My wife describes it as the best car we have had. Our past cars include Lincolns, Buicks, Chevrolets, Fords, & Mercury. We are very happy with it"

"I have had two previous hybrids. A 2008Honda Cvic which met our basic needs but wanted acar that gave good mileage and have luxury. The second was a 2011 Sonata Hyundai hybrid that turned out to be a very poor car. It gave poor mileage, the air conditioning was poor even after it was replaced and it tended to be jerky. The 2012 Toyota Hybrid is a terrific car with excellent mileage and mine is the luxury model with all avaible equipment. I think this is one of the best cars on the market today."

"The 2012 Toyota Camry hybrid xle is an excellent vehicle. The performance is unmatched, the quality is Toyota high and the space is well designed. For being a hybrid, this car is better than many high end models on the market. No one can compare to the aerodynamic design that ends up giving you a terrific mileage of 44 mpg in the worst driving conditions and much higher in normal driving conditions."

"Cuirrently have over 9500 miles including a 5000 road trip from Omaha to New Brunswick and back. Looked at other hybrids such as Ford, Hyundai, and Lexus. None touched the Camry Hybrid XLE for the combination of mpg, power, reliability, comfortability, and price. Ordered an XLE with only the backup camera, homelink, and security as options with the forest green. Took a month to arrive. Added privacy glass, clear bra, and mud guards outside of dealership at deep discounts as compared to the dealership. This Camry's style and color is not trendy but with the added accountaments, it looks classy but still seems conservative. Driving between 70 and 75 mph, easily obtained over 39 mpg regardless whether traversing mountains or having four adults and a full trunk. It has snappy pick-up, very quick passing regardless of speed, and effortless cruising regardless of load. The electric lumbar support was invalueable for longer trips. The vehicle controls were easy to learn and reach. I very much like the power button feature as you don't need a key for the ignition, the doors, and the trunk. The back-up camera is very useful as it lessens the strain on the neck when trying to look back as the camera instead gives a good view. Several passengers appreciated the rear ventilation duct and the rear seat space and comfort. The steeering was responsive and precise as was the braking: a good solid ride. Was shocked to find that there is no lighted vanity mirrors. There is no indicator on the dash letting the driver know when the automatic headlights on activated. There is no turning signals on the outside rearview mirrors (there should be with this vehicle). Needs to be better lighting for back-up camera during sunny daylight hours. The phone status indicator should not appear on the screen when the back-up camera is activated because it momentarily obstructs the camera view when backing up. The driver should be able to turn on the the fog lights alone. When unlock key fob is activated, the dome light should come on for 5-10 seconds to locate or provide illumination to vehicle. The front passenger seat should fold forward for longer or bigger items. Camry has a bigger trunk this year and currently bigger than the others, but should still strive for more trunk space. Overall, Toyota did a great job in re-doing the Camry Hybrid: in my opinion, it is the best hybrid on the market bar none."

Having your cake and eating it

"This is my first Camry. Recently I owned a 2010 Mazda 6 3.7 and a 2012 Kia Optima 2.4. The Camry simply is a class above these two. I hadn't even driven a Camry or a Hybrid before June this year. I believe cars should go around bends when asked to, which is why I never owned one. However, Toyota have re-worked the suspension and it handles better than my Mazda, althought not quite as good as the Optima. The hard ride is new to Camry owners, but it is there, believe me. However, it holds the road well, the Bridgestone Turanza tires appear to help. They are NOT by the way, low rolling resistance tires. I've driven Turanzas on other cars and not noticed a hard ride, so I think Toyota should simply copy the Fusion or Altima and get the handling/ride better. I'm averaging between 36 and 43 mpg, depending how fast I go As an example, cruising in Kansas at the new 75 mph limit, burns about 8 miles per gallon more than crusing at 65 mph, so it's up to you really. It hits 60 mph just over 7 seconds, which is enough for me. The beauty of it is though, that in daily driving, it is as fast as my Mazda, because if the excellent CVT gearing and the electric motor with 100% instant torque kicking in to boost the gas engine, it really accelerates well. It leaves the Optima, with 200bhp, same as my Camry, for dead because it does not have to kick down 2 gears every time you want power! Build quality is superb, it feels it will go on for years! However, please be aware, the XLE, which I drive, is not an XLE as Camry fans would know. more like an old LE, be prepared to spend a fortune adding basic old XLE things like leather with heated seats, sun roof, and so on. I think the base XLE is the one to go for, if you can find one! I couldn't! The 6 inch nav screen is too small, the back-up camera is hard to see. The in dash sat-nav is hopeless, and they tell me, it cost $199 to update the maps! I could have got a larger in dash screen, but I thought I had paid enough! So, go for cloth, get heated seats fitted for about $450, buy a Garmin or Tom-Tom for about $200 with lifetime updates and traffic and enjoy. Penny pinching: There is no passenger automatic up and down window and no center vent control. All for that, this is a tremendous piece of work by Toyota. Look at the residuals and I believe this makes more sense than the standard 6 speed gasoline and it's I think much nicer to drive and a lot quicker and you wil get about 13 mpg extra on average. You really get your cake and eat it here! Well done Toyota, no wonder Mazda and Nissan are going to license your hybrid system for the new Mazda 6 and Nissan Altima."

"Very comfortable car and quiet, with very good gas mileage and lots of get up and go. We are averaging about 41 mpg. The performance is much better than expected. We owned a Honda Civic Hybrid prior to this car and it is definitely a step up although the Civic was a terrific car also."

"Fun car to drive.handles well Gas mileage is close to what it's suppose to get. A little bit disappointed with the ultra suede section of the leather seats. Will interesting to see what subtle changes will be made to 2013's"

"Bought the XLE hybrid a few weeks ago, and love it. It's fun to drive, has a very sophisticated hybrid system that gives a lot of power, and has a nice finish. I'm really enjoying spending time in this car. You will too if you enjoy a peppy ride, great mileage, and especially if you have a soft spot for gadgets."
