"I just bought this car used, with only 5K miles, so practically brand new. At first I had problems with blind spots, there are 2 major ones: one at the front where windshield meets the front edge by driver side window, and one on passenger side in the very rear of the car. But after a few weeks, I am used to the blind spots and have ajusted. The dark gray ineteior also shows dust and dirt (and dog hair!) way more compared to the tan interior of my old Carolla. Other than those complaints, car handles great, is really fun to drive, gas milage is as advertized, and is a breeze to park. We have been loyal Toyota owners for over 25 years, and keep our cars/trucks for at least 200K miles. I believe this will be yet another Toyota that will be on our family for years to come."

"I love this car except for one thing...the outside rear view mirrors are too high and large and greatly interfere with visbility on turns, They also reflect traffic behind you at a level that gives the feeling that the cars are coming at you from the front. This is especially true at night. When making a turn on to a street with cement divider, you cannot see the divider at all."

"I have owned a Matrix for a few years now and have had several problems with it. Mainly I have had problems with electrical and with a factory installed alarm and kill switch. As I write this my car is parked and useless for the third time this year as the kill switch constantly goes screwy and won't let me start the car-tomorrow I am having it entirely removed to avoid any more issues but then it is open for thieves to take without a kill switch. I have had to wait longer having it fixed at times due to parts that were not readily available and needed to be special ordered. There is a blind spot on both sides of car that no amount of fixing the mirrors will help. It does not go from entrance to highway easily-bucks and slows down instead of speeding up. My mechanic tells me he knows a lot of people not happy with Matrix. Don't go to dealership they are useless."

"This vehicle is so fun to drive and the gas mileage is super. Very comfortable for a small car. I am driving the S model. Easy take off and breaking. Not bad for a small car on the highway either. I thought I would really have a difficult time but was I surprised. I can get around tight areas and parking is a breeze. Allow your kid to take thier driving test in this vehicle. My daughter wants to take her driving exam in this car. But I don't know I am having too much fun myself right now."

"The Matrix is a car I wanted to like. It looked funky and seemed to be a great value. But since I drove it off the dealer lot I have been really disappointed. The millage is lousy for a small car. I average 26 miles per gallon, which for a car this small is awful. My old VW Golf TDI average 41. More disappointing is the fit and finish. THe interior pieces just don't feel well made at all. The plastics are already fading and cracking, and the glove box creaks when you open it. Also, the reliability has not been so good. Since I took ownership 2 months ago, the a fan belt broke and the front bumper completely fell off the car when i went over a series of potholes in West Chicago. (The car showed no signs of damage before that happened) I once thought that Toyota's were quality affordable cars, but this car has changed my opinion. It is just put together really cheaply, and covered up with attractive pricing and styling. It is a shame though, because this car has nice seats and and a pretty good size trunk, but those are not enough for me to ever recommend this vehicle."

"I've had my Maxtrix S model (Automatic) for four months now and am very satisfied with it. It is comfortable, has adequate performance and has a roomy, versatile interior. Gas mileage is steady at 33mpg, but I am an "eco-driver", the kind you hate to be behind. My two quibbles with the design are: Shifter is too prominent on dashboard, I am learning not to knock it out of gear when reaching for the radio; and rear quarter visibility not the greatest, but large mirrors help with that. After 15 years in a Toyota MR2, I like the upright seating position. Being 15 years older now makes me appreciate entry and exit ease. I've owned and driven three Toyotas over the past twenty-five years exclusively, reliability has been top-notch. I would never gamble my transportation money on anything else."

"This car is simply fun. I cant think of a more versatile car, with more space and functionality, with better gas mileage. 31 mpg with sport utility space. If gas hits 4 bux a gallon, i have the best possible car buy on the market. Get the 1.8 liter engine and the base trim with the power package. It gives you every thing you need. its fun, sporty, and practicle. With a new baby, everything fits in easily. strollers, pack and plays, ... everything. And at the end of the day. its a toyota. In five years... you'll probably get half of what you paid for it in a traid. That allows you to easily move up the car food chain with each toyota purchase."
