"I owned a 2002 MR2 Spyder for a couple years now. After the purchase of this car, I sold my 1986 MR2 with 186,000 miles. I had so much fun with the MK1 I have to get another MR2. Mine is TRD equipped; struts, sway bars, chassey stiffeners, roll bar, strut tower bars front and rear, performance headers and exhaust, forged black racing wheels, and a performance chip. This car has the works for performance and handing down those canyons roads. This little sexy inexpensive car gives performance and fun all around Hawaii. Fun in the sun with the top down. The only down side is, I can only fit my golf clubs in the front seat. At 35 mpg, this also is the perfect car for commuting in this down economy."

"I have owned 4 Toyotas - 79 corolla, 86 corolla GTS, 95 4runner still going with 260,000 and an 02 MR2 Spyder. The Celica engine is powerful and efficient, I get 34 mpg, the car is nimble and fast and it's great fun to drive. I have owned both American (Ford) and foreign (Volvo, Fiat) vehicles and I will never buy anything other than a Japan-built Toyota. I push each car further mileage wise and as long as I'm diligent about oil changes and maintenance, the cars are incredibly reliable. The MR2's oil should be changed every 3000 miles, as the mid engine car runs hot. Other than that rule, all is great."

"I have owned my MR2 Spyder for a little over 5 years and love everything about it. It has the best handling of any car I have driven and because the engine is in the back of the car, it is very quick! I would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a sports car...it's definitely the best deal for your money!"

"I have owned my MR2 Spyder for a little over 2 years nows it is my very 1st sport car and i just love it. It gets up and goes smoke 4 cyc and beats V6 and it is only a 1.8 DOHC. The only problem with is that my convertible top ripped because i put the top down so much and the cost for a new one is like $1000 like WOW!! i have 90,000 miles on it has some performance parts on it Megan Racing Headers, Hi flow cat, custom exhaust system by lone star muffler, underdrive crank pulley, bigger cam and changed out my gears. now im so working on the looks of the putting a ground effect kit and rims, and lowering the car like 2 inchs planing on putting turbo in the car after the rebuild. but really if anyone is plaining on buy this car i would suggest it you get alot of people that turn their heads when you drive."

"I have driven my MR2 Spyder over 55,000 miles. The few problems I did have were self-imposed (e.g., I spun the car and forgot to hold the clutch in, so broke the tranny). I just love this car. The fact that I average 29 mpg overall is just the icing on the cake (and the excuse I use to have it - who would deny anyone an economy car in this era of high fuel prices?). I recommend it and would buy another one."

"Car has 48,000 miles and looks new for a 2002 model. Handles like a dream and has plenty of leg room for a 6'4" driver. Gas milage seems to be between 25 and 30 mpg. Acceleration is great in 5th gear. Top is very manageable to take down and put up."
