"This is a very nice car with easy operation. Usually I get about 42-44 mpg in the city and going up and down hills. The Hatchback has enough room to carry things, but it could get more room by lower the trunk."

"I first bought a Prius to replace a Ford Focus for better gas mileage as I used to live 25 minutes from work. It was so reliable and great gas mileage I gave it to my son and bought a second one!! I love it! The only thing, and this is minor, is I live in Wisconsin and work in Duluth Minnesota with steep hills and it does not do well getting up a slippery slope. I've made adjustements by going all the way up and coming down the hill to get to work. Its made for great gas mileage not 4 wheeling. I still love it!"

"I have had this car for about three months and it has been a very reliable car. It was a first car for me. I love the hatchback the way it looks and how efficiant it is with the space. I also like how the dash looks and the computer is very helpful (with me as a new driver i'm always getting lost!) The exterior looks very sporty and I really like it a lot! I also love the gas mpg! I don't have a lot of money so this is an ideal car over all!"

"This car is quite simply amazing. In almost every way. It can go 500 miles on a single tank of gas, its suspension is perfect, both in terms of alignment and tension, the engine is easy to service (provided you know what you're doing with the electronic components), and it's as user-friendly as they come. Even the fabric of the seats and floor mats is excellent. Not easily stained, and easy to get stains out of. I can only think of three cons with this car: 1. The windshield wipers -they wear out very fast -the rear wiper's coverage is small 2. Throttle response - E.G., the same as an elephant's 3. BHP -76 BHP, all to the front wheels, is simply not enough A project I would love to do with this car when I have both time and money, is to see what the effects would be of doubling the horsepower, lower the ride height by 1.4 inches, fitting larger alloy wheels and higher-performing tires, and reducing the weight by 30 kilograms through the use of lighter bodywork and lighter front seats, and finally, moving the position of the hybrid battery forward on the chassis to improve weight distribution, all while sacrificing only 10 mpg of fueal efficiency. The prius was never designed to be fast, but it very easily could be made into the most fuel-efficient hot hatch on the market today, even better than a Golf GTI."

Follow-up from May 4 2010 post--94000 mile point

"Prius was still dependable with another set of new tires installed around 92,000 miles (tread wear lasted about 42000 miles). Only other significant replacement was the HID headlamps (known issue with this model year), which began failing near the 70,000 mile point. Everything mentioned in my previous post still applies, still solid fuel mileage of low-mid 40s (better in summer) with frequent driving up and down hills. Roomy for passengers with great storage capacity. I was able to fit a 7 foot tall Christmas tree in the car and the hatch was still able to close (no other passengers were in the car)! Unfortunately, in late January this Prius suffered severe front end damage in a wreck at 20-25 mph speed and was declared a total loss. In the 29-month time span since purchase, I put 54,000 miles on the car and was pleased to have experienced so few problems. To replace this vehicle, I just bought a white 2008 Prius with all the features of the silver car, plus navigation maps as a nice bonus upgrade. After driving this car for a while I'll post a review on the 2008 Prius page."

"MPG 35 IN MOUNTAINS, PROB 45 ON HWY. ONLY HAD 56,000 ON IT IN 2012. DOESN'T USE GAS WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR GOING DOWNHILL. AND RECHARGES IT'S OWN BATTERIES. SELF MAINTAINING. WELL KEPT, NICE PAINT STILL."

"We were surprised to find what we were looking for. The car was listed the day before we bought it. The deal went fine and we are happy with the car. Can't make a judgement on the reliability, we have only had the car for a couple of weeks."

"I'm a a 6'2" 250 lb man who has plenty of room not only in the front seat but the back seat as well. Every cubic inch of space is used in the most efficient way including the storage. I've taking trips over 500 miles on one tank of gas getting over 55 mpg. I've drivin in the mountains getting 60 mpg. the JBL sound is great. Driving 10mph over the speedlimit I average about 45 mpg, but driving conservitively at the speed limit I easily get 50+ mpg. I'm a younger guy and my friends do make fun of me for driving a prius, but I don't care. I still get the hot girlfriends... :)"
