"I recently purchased a 2012 Toyota Prius. I've run three tanks of fuel through it and got 45.3, 48.4 and 49.3 mpg, using the number of miles driven/the number of gallons purchased method to arrive at consumption. The car has a lot of nice features standard, and I opted for no options, although a leather seat for the driver would be nice. There is nothing special about the car, but nothing bad either, except the steering wheel does not extent out far enough."

"The recycled materials used for the dash and other parts of the interior are hard and tend to rattle a lot. On very smooth surfaces it is very quite, but less than perfect blacktop causes continuous rattles. I took it back to the dealer with no luck. It does get 50 mpg day in and day out. But not without a lot of noise."

"I'm satisfied with the Prius 3 but must report one issue. A couple weeks after delivery a message "check hybrid system" appeared in the information center. The short version is that the computer determined that the cells in the hybrid battery were not elqualized. The dealer replaced the battery and provided a rental car during the 19 days it took to get the battery. Apparently it came from Tokio. I wasn't w/o transportation and the 2012 Camry the dealership provided was good transportation but it was a frustrating to not have the new car I recently purchased. On the positive side, the Toyota "Customer Experience" office extended my warranty to 125K and sent a $200 gift card for my inconvenience. The car runs fine and routinely gets 50+ mpg. My only complaints about the car are that I don't like the split view through the back window and there is no compass heading displayed in the GPS or the info window. Perhaps the 4 & 5 models have a compass. I enjoy driving it."

"I was trading in a 10 year old Honda Odyssey, as I no longer needed all that room, and wanted better fuel economy. I am still getting used to the much smaller "cockpit" feeling of the Prius, and the dash has way more stuff on it than I will ever use. That said, I do enjoy driving this small car, and the mileage has been all they promised, maybe more! It handles well, and I don't miss the extra power that guzzled all the gas. If I ever get all the technical stuff figured out, I'm sure I will like it even more!"

"The car is comfortable and rides well for its size and weight. The gas mileage is as good or better than claimed on the EPA sticker. We use the car for errands around town but it rides well enough that I would take it on a trip to take advantage of the great gas mileage."

"This is the hybrid I've been waiting for. Finally a wagon. Hauling capacity plus good gas mileage. I've had it about a month now and am quite pleased, but it does take some getting used to. Biggest problem for me is that I the car is so quiet it's easy to drive faster than you think. This is really a different car in many respects. In others, it's pretty normal. But there is excellent head and leg room in the back seat. The seats fold almost flat just by pulling a lever on the side. Have the entune navigation system, and I like it. (Navigation was one of my requirements.) But there are definitely parts of the entune system that I would redesign for better ease of use."

""Very pretty, sporty, smooth. The Entune never works, the map's radar is a joke, so is the mapping. The inside is very cramped. I have to keep the car because of the gas mileage which is awesome, but we are constantly bumping into each other. our drink mugs are too big for the cup holders, there is no where to put my purse. We ate in the car on a road trip and that was very nerve racking. No spills, but if this car did not get such good gas mileage, I would take it back. The car phone is the best. So clear on both ends. No complaints about the phone. The big windshield makes the car HOT. The Solar panel does not help at all. I actually got sun burn on the tops of my legs on a road trip. There are plenty of places to put things in the back of this car, but NO cubbies for trash, cup holders are too close, sun shines too much on dashboard to see car's specifics during the day. I think the cloth interior is cheap looking and feels like it will be tearing soon on the arm rests and the console.""

Best economy I've ever owned

"I bought this 2012 Prius for obvious reasons: fuel economy, and that's what I got. I wasn't sure whether the computer-calculated mileage was accurate, so I've been calculating it myself the old fashion way. Happily, from fill-up to fill-up my mileage was pretty much the same as what was displayed on the Prius computer display. Sometimes the actual mileage was 1 or 1.5 mpg less that what Prius calculated and sometimes the actual was better by .5 to 1 mpg. So at least I can rely pretty much on the stats that the car is giving me. So the big upside for the car is the great gas mileage. However, the biggest downside is the slow acceleration. I tend to drive a lot slower than I normally would, trying to conserve as much gas as possible, which leads me to the next upside of the car. It keeps me out of trouble! When I see other cars being stopped for speeding, I go along my merry way realizing I'm driving more responsibly than I ever have before. My other car is a Lexus GS350 which gives me all the thrills I need. But the satisfaction I get from driving my Prius by spending so little for gas gives me a different kind of satisfaction, which is even more dear to my heart. SAVING MONEY! Other good things, many of which surprised me, are the comfort when driving long distances and the general build quality. The Entunes entertainment system is a wonderful feature that was very unexpected."
