"I bought this car new. Had some electrical problems (warning lights on) in the first year. Even now there are intermitent problems with with the warning lights. At 55,000 miles AC went down (compressor). Estimated cost of the repair $4,000. It turns out problem is quite common with this vehicle. I will get rid of it as soon as I can."

"We have owned our 2006 Sienna LE since 08/06. After 55,000 miles the only things that we have replaced are battery, brakes and tires. The van is smooth, quiet, and comfortable for longer trips. Handling and power are adequate. My wife recently rear ended another car going almost 40mph and walked away without a scatch. Thank you Toyota for the safety of this vehicle. I would definitely but again."

"I purchased 2004 XLE AWD new in the fall of 2003. Previous van was a 1992 AWD Toyota Previa, which we drove to 165K miles. I just didn't want my wife to be stranded somewhere, and we had gotten our moneys worth out of it. Good things about this van; Pretty quiet, comfortable seats, ok mileage for an AWD van. I get about 15 in the winter, 19 in the summer and about 22 on long trips. Things not so good about this van; Run flat tires are a really bad idea. They are very expensive, ($1000 a set), only last about 25K miles, and if you do get a hole in one, you have to replace all four, because most of the time, they can't be fixed. If you are on vacation, you are really in a world of hurt, because run flat tires of this size are always a special order, even at Toyota dealerships. I did replace them with regular tires, and purchased a spare tire kit from Toyota for $500. There have been recalls on the radiator, (I didn't get that one fixed on time and it cost $1000). The rack and pinion gear leaks. I am trying to fix that with magic oil from Lucas oil company. The electric back hatch is starting to struggle in the winter, the electric side doors can get ice in them in the winter, and then the door won't close. This makes the car beep like a dump truck until you get a hair dryer in there to dry out the ice. Radio is average. All of that being said, we have over 108K miles, and will probably keep it for several more years, probably run it up to 200K before we get another vehicle. By then, I won't need a van, yippee!"

"We purchased our Sienna new after extensive research. After a test drive, we were sold. We were impressed with the very comfortable, smooth ride. After a while we started noticing a surging when you barely pressed the gas pedal, the transmission seemed to shift really hard at times and Toyota wouldn't even check out our concerns even though we were still under a full manufactures warranty without charging us a large fee! Now after three years, our headlight covers have a film that is peeling, even though it is garage kept. Overall it has been very reliable, the surging has seemed to diminish after 31,000 miles but I am a little disappointed in the quality."

"I have personally bought 63 Toyota Sienna 2004 thru 2009. I have bought all used with miles as low as 35 actual miles up to 65,000 miles. I have driven each Sienna at least 100 miles each and have had almost no problems. I own a dealership that sells vehicles world wide and I truly belive that the Sienna is the best passanger van ever built for family use. Most of my Siennas are the XLE or Limited model with the Navigation system. One we have owned for over a year and a half. My wife drive it every day. I plan to buy another 60 Siennas as soon as I can and I would recomend it to anyone, even my own mother. Actually I helped here buy a brand new one when they first came out because the used ones werent around yet much."

"We were so excited to make this purchase, we had done extensive research and test drove other vans. We purchased the van new in 2006. With in a few months the radio started to malfunction the dealer "could not duplicate problem". Then we started having issues with a hard shift and a pinging noise coming from the engine, again issues that they could not duplicate. Finally after two years of back and forth we found Toyota's own Tech bulletins on line addressing the radio issues and the pinging noises. Only when confronted with those did they agree to fix the problems. The van still has a hard shift and feels as though the transmission is slipping. There answer for that, premium fuel, we tried that and it does seem to stop the problem but when gas is already 4.00 a gallon who wants a car that requires premium fuel. We should have listened to the Honda dealer that warned us about the fuel requirements instead of thinking they were just using a bunch of sales hype to get us to buy a Honda. Now we owe more then the van is worth and can not off load it. This was a purchase I had planned on keeping as long as it kept running now I am just hopeful it keeps running long enough to get rid of it!"

"Bought my LE w/rt power door new in 2006 and now I have just over 36k miles on it. I've had no problems, except the tailgait shock which dealer replaced. I had Circuit City install a 12" Jensen overhead dvd player hardwired into audio system which makes a nice addition. The van has served our family of 5 very well. I have avg 22 mpg city/hwy driving and 25mpg on a 4k mile trip this summer. Pitfalls are poor radio sound quality (though DVD sounds good thru it) and the ride seems a bit stiff, but I'm hoping new higher quality tires will smooth out the ride. Also I'm a little concerned with what I would deem excessive stone chips on the hood, compared to my prior 9 yr old plymouth van. However it is quiet inside, and I have a '97 camry I bought new that currently has $178k miles with only $330 in repairs over the last 10 yrs (besides regular maintenance) and it drives as good as the day I picked it up. That provided the motivation to really only consider another Toyota for a family vehicle."

"My Sienna is a wonderful vehicle. I have not had any mechanical issues at all. However, the wheels are peeling and it is still under warranty. Toyota's position is that this is an environmental issue caused by road salt used in New England in the winter time. I do not feel that this is good customer service. Much of this country experiences winter and if road salt is going to cause folks to have to replace wheels, not cheap, then there is something wrong with the design. Toyota should step up to the plate and replace these wheels and create a new design."

"Your ratings are right on here--I get very nervous backing up with this van because of the low visibility. Also, we usually get only 17-19 mpg when we fill up a tank after about 1/2 highway and 1/2 city driving. I've had it checked out and everything seems OK, so I don't know if my particular Sienna is more of a gas-guzzler than they're supposed to be, or if they're all that way. Our 2004 has been reliable for 1 1/2 years but too soon to say long-term."

"I own a 2006 Sienna and find it extremely distacting because of the off centre steering wheel. It is not centered with the drivers seat and I am extremely uncomfortable and potentially unsafe driving it. Does anyone else have this problem? Toyota.ca has not responded to my emails to them. I know other 2006 siennas have this problem, because I've tested them."
