"I bought my Toyota Tacoma 4X4 Double Cab used from a dealership 300 miles away. This truck replaced a domestic full size pickup I purchased new. My Tacoma has outperformed the Ford on every aspect, and to date has not disappointed at all. Dependability, consistency, comfort, and performance are all there. The Toyota Tacoma is a bullet proof truck!"

"Tacoma is the best truck ever! Great rear seats for adults compare to the competition out there.good towing capacity.super 4x4. It does everything a man got to do everyday. And the reability and resale value is the best compare to any other truck."

"Overall good except a strong wind would put a dent in the body. Great towing capability and has the power to get up and go when needed."

"Everyone always told me toyota was the way to go, I found out it wasn't. I bought this pickup new in 2006 and it hasn't lived up to my expectation. the 2.7 liter doesn't EVER run right and I only get about 13 city because of it. The transmission went out of it for no reason at 18,000 ( i never pull/haul any heavy loads over 500lbs). The A/C compressor quit a while back and had to get that replaced. The VVT-i is awful, it wont accelerate to highway speeds, the brakes pulse, and i don't want to continue. I've taken it in for warranty work and nothing gets accomplished. I can make a Ford F-150 run for over 300,000 miles but I cant get a Toyota to run for more than 18,000...whats up with that?"

"Really love my Tacoma. I still get compliments to this day. Pretty good gas milage for a truck. Only complaints are, I kept hearing klunking noise when applying brakes in reverse. Turns out there was a bulletin put out for the Toyota Service Mech. to replace rotors and pins. I had to go to two dealerships before they figured out what it was and to replace it under warranty. I also wish there was a temperature and direction gage overhead like in other autos. You would think with the package I bought they would of added that to the list of "perks". Handling is a bit stiff, but that is a truck. I don't have a problem in the snow if I am loaded down with wood. Drives good and can haul butt if needed."

"I've had this 2006 Tacoma 4 door TRD Sport for almost a year. Loving every minute. The interior is very comfortable with plenty of room for 5 poeple. Not a lot of little extra features but enough for my taste. There's plenty of power when you need it. Just give it some gas and you're gone. Plenty of compliments on its looks. Even from other Tacoma owners."

"I had a 2003 Tacoma 2wd automatic base regular cab as a 'second car' and it was OK for the price, $11,500 brand new. I sold it and bought a 2006 4wd extended cab base manual Tacoma. It was disappointing. It was so boxy I had difficulty parking it. I would back into things, run into things. It acted 'big' but didn't really have much more usable space than the <= 2004 models. The clutch pedal squeaked (even after Toyota's fix). The seats squeaked. It was just a clumsy feeling truck. I traded it in on a 2002 4wd regular cab manual. The 2002 was great! It was more comfortable, handled better, the clutch felt better, it shifted better. I can't think of one single thing I like better about the 2005 + Tacoma. The newer ones are OK but not nearly as good as the old. Bigger is not better in this case."

"I had a 2002 Tundra Limited, and am disappointed with the 2006 Tacoma. I live at higher altitude (Colorado) and drive under varying conditions - strong winds and icy roads. The road mileage at 65-70mph is <16mpg, and handling on winter roads is poor. The wind noise is very noticable."

"Double Cab TRD 4.0 Reliability - so far, so good. Never a need for more than oil changes and 30k tune up. Gas mileage is a solid 17.5 for me. Except when towing..... Complaints: I do like to tow and thought the 6500 lb capacity would be great. at 6000 pounds you are at less than 5 mpg. Not only is that expensive but here in alaska you need to plan your routes in order to have gas. This is not a stiff ride. If you have 2 medium people in the back seat and hit a bump you will feel the axle abruptly. This also makes hauling impossible without worrying about damage. 1000 lb helper springs can be purchased for 200 bucks. The paint is chipping easily and there is a spot where it is flaking on it's own. I have heard crazy rumors of a bad batch of cam shafts and weak transmissions. I really drive like an idiot my tires last about a year, and I can tell you the truck has held up. I do not believe there is another mid-size truck that holds a candle to the tacoma. Look forward to putting another 200k on her and seeing if she holds up like the old yoter trucks."

"I've had many 4x4's over the years Mercedes, Hummer H1, Toyotas, and Jeeps and I've pushed them to the limits. I have an 06 Tacoma 4x4 double cab with the TRD Off ROad Package. I've crossed through the same river with the water just over the bumoer on several occasions, no stalling, no problems. I have the same complaint as most people that the seats are too low. but other than that, it's been comfortable and reliable. It would have been nice to have a sun roof but I can live without it. I've typically been getting in the neighborhood of 19mpg. The truck has seen it's share of hauling, I've placed 16footers through the sliding glass rear window and out the tail gate. It's a great all around truck."
