Good mid-sized van for family

by Andy from Lakewood, CO | July 8, 2011

I used to own Vanagons, so stepping up to the Eurovan was really great. The level of refinement is high, and the interior is much better than the old Vanagons. It is pretty quiet on the road, and you have great visibility sitting high above traffice. The seats are firm, but comfortable. We have an MV with rear facing passenger seats and folding table. The rear seats are comfy with arm rests. The rear seat folds into a bed and it came with snap in curtains. The 12v VR6 is a nice engine and has great torque if not quite enough horsepower. It is smooth and queit. Our rebuilt transmission needed a new valve body and TCM. Shifts from 1st to 2nd were harsh and it was slow or hesitant to downshift on the road. The transmission is the weak link, but with maintanence and a lift foot it will last a long time.

best road trip hauler

by VW enthusiast, bus lover from Kansas City, KS | August 1, 2009

I have owned my "bus" for 11 years, it has only been in the shop twice. Never Drivetrain probs. only brakes and tires. if you have long hauls, this is the vehicle for it. I'm looking for another since the family has grown beyond the seats in the beetle.

Most Expensive Mistake I've Made with a car

by Minivan Fan from Ashland, OR | July 9, 2008

The Eurovan is a great size and shape for our family, but it has been the most unreliable and expensive vehicle we have ever owned. Everytime it goes into the shop (which is often) it costs a minimum of $700. I will never own another VW because of this car.
