"I was looking for a small vehicle that was good on fuel, dependable and easy on my finances. The VW Golf fit the bill. The Golf is not just economical but it is really fun to drive. In a nutshell I now know what the German?s meant by ?Fahrvergnügen.?"

"I bought my 2006 Golf new. Less than 2 years after I bought it the car started having problems. The car jerks when shifting automatically inbetween 2nd and 3rd gears. It has been in the shop 7 times for this problem and it hasn't been solved yet. I want VW to buy the car back but they won't."

"I was impressed with the test drive... and now, 5000 miles later I'm still impressed. Only one reason to make a trip back to dealer, that for a minor speedometer error correction. Build quality and design quality is first rate... solid feeling and top shelf materials used throughout. Price is pretty good in direct comparison, but it is very good when comparing features. The number of airbags especially can account for $2-3 thousand in price compared to much of the competition."

"At 200 miles the car died and had to be towed in. The dealer claimed a faulty fuel filter/valve and wrong fuel pump installation. At 600 miles, the front end noises, from clunking to CV joint noises, which the dealer could not determine the cause, however they tightened things up and changed transmission fluid. At 2000 miles the sunroof started it's rattle, they took it apart and put it back together with some additional sound proofing material. Then, and that is the biggest problem for which I want VW USA to take their car back, the right rear passenger door hits the C pillar causing heavy gauging of the frame and the hatchback door does not line up with the quarter panel on the same side of that door. Their fix and for the third time, and it is still not fixed, was to hammer away on the frame and the door to drive them apart! Very dissatisfied with this vehicle and will not buy a VW product again."

"The interior is excellent. Very euro, sporty and smart. The seats could be longer and tilt more but I can't complain. They are still the best seats I have tried so far in the compact arena. It sounds great, looks great and handles great, and has plenty of power without the straining lawnmower engine noise of some other gas saver compacts. It is really fun to drive and you almost feel like your in a porsche like cockpit. At least I do. After only 2 months with this car I am now a VW fan. It is a classy little car and as a bonus the seats fold down, or you can remove them and have lots of cargo space. A porsche with cargo space. Gotta love it."
