"One thing I have to say is that when you drive a German car, will be hard to go and drive another car from an other country. I purchase this Jetta 2.5 L as work horse, commuter. I purchase it with 77,000 miles. I have now 103,000 miles, have done two service according inspections and one warranty call back on the transmission valve. I make in a year around 30,000 miles on the road, and no issues at all. The only not happy side of it is that the noise insulation could be much better, however this depends as well on the kind of asphalt on the road, plus the type of tire you are using. Gas mileage is just great, according manufacturers specification should be 29 miles per gallon. I do that on combination city and highway. On my many highway trips between Houston and Baton Rouge, I was able to bring even 34 miles per gallon. This is just a great car. you have good comfortable seats, the driver seat can be adjust in many ways and heights! If you have the chance do a test drive!"

"I have 68K miles and the timing belt loosed and bent three valves. Head had to be sent a machine shop and parts alone was $1700. Transmission bearings are going on the front axles now. My mechanic even told me to get rid of it as soon as I can."

"It is a great car for the money. It is fun to drive, gets good gas mileage, and for the most part if still drives like it did the day I bought it. The finishes inside have held up very well, and (knock on wood) I have had no major repairs at all."

"I love my 2006 VW Jetta 2.0 turbo. Its fun to drive and blows past many more expensive cars. The interior is nice but engine and road noise are high. The big down side is the engine burns oil like mad. 1.5 qts per 1000 miles. VW wont fix it under warranty because they say its normal. Normal for a low poor quality car maybe. I wont buy another VW."

"After driving my 1987 VW Golf for over 200,000 miles for a total of 350,000 - great car - my wife and I purchased a 2006 Jetta 2.5 with 62,000. This was a corporate car and then owned by the VW dealership. The car has been kept immaculate and was sold as a Certified vehicle with a 2 year/24,000 mile warranty. I have only drivien a few hundred miles in it, but I am totally smitten with the awesomeness (is that a word?) and beauty of the car. Smooth and easy - styling is gorgeous. I'm looking forward to a long relationship with the Jetta. Did I say I love this car?"

First car I've owned for more than 2 years...

"Super car! My first VW, but not my last! When they said "drivers wanted", they weren't kidding. I've had Honda's, Toyota's, Subaru's, but none were as nice as the VW in fit/finish, handling, performance, the whole package. As for reliability, I've had 0, that's "zero" problems with my GLI. I almost bought a Civic Si, but I'm glad I didn't, the GLI far exceeds the Civic in quality, luxury and class. And, if you like exclusivity, you rarely see another GLI on the road, if you do, you'll usually get a wave! I can't say enough great things about this car!"

"This is my second VW diesel. The first was a 2003 Beetle. just purchased the 2006 Jetta. I drive appraoximatley 125 miles / day to and from work. The car yileds 44+ miles per gallon of fuel. Pasengers in hte car can not believe it is a diesel engine. It is quiet and very powerful. It is my opinion that if the the "Big Three" in Detroit had mad an honest attempt to deliver a turbo diesel car like VW has, we would not have had to bail them out. As long as I can afford to by VW diesel cars and VW continues to build them I will ber a VW customer."

"The Jetta 2006 TDI model is a wonderful car! It is feature-packed and has no major flaws. I owned a 2002 model with 180,000 miles before I replaced it with this 2006. Neither vehicle needed any major maintenance whatsoever! And I can't say enough about the gas mileage. The 06, under normal, unmodified driving gets 44 MPG easily during my daily 40 mile round-trip commute. If you go a little easier on the gas, and coast to your stops, you can easily achieve 55 MPG!"

"I bought this car used with 40k miles on it. As soon as we drove it off the lot, the check engine light goes on. It was in the shop for about a week and they still couldn't fix it. It's still on. The paint on the buttons peel off. The gearbox was recalled. The AC compressor was shot ($1800). And just last night, the engine made a screaming sound in NYC, and started to overheat and smoke. So I was stuck in an hour of traffic blasting the heat to avoid an engine fire. The fuses go out pretty often. I had no interior lights for a few weeks while the electric system was checked out. On the good side, its fun to drive (when it works), it looks cool, gets great gas mileage, has a huge trunk to fit two cellos, and....well...that's it. Not worth the money, buy honda, toyota, acura, or anything else for that matter. Don't buy audi either...it's the same company."
