"We bought the turbo wagon version as a family car 14 years ago. It has cost about $1,200 / year to maintain. It was driven on many road trips all without special prep work or need to carry parts or tools. It's spacious, comfortable, and fun to drive. Snow tires in winter are a necessity. Handling is pretty good and acceleration is decent. Body and interior have been very durable. It is a little thirsty only getting 19 mpg city and 24 highway. Recycled parts are plentiful and cheap."

"Bought this California '90 745T w/25K in 1995. It now has 139K. It joined two other cars with more sporting suspensions so that it's floating & leaning tendancies were more apparent. Spent about $1K upgrading suspension (gas touring shocks, front & rear heavy duty sway bars, shock tower & chassis braces under hood and rear overload springs) turned the car into a great handler. Increasing boost from 8 to 14 upped Hp at the flywheel to 222, dyno'd, so the car easily keeps-up with traffic. I've heard that Volvo's are expensive to maintain but found this car to be cheap in this regard. I'm an engineer & gearhead and generally keep cars a long time. If maintained properly any new car can easily go over 100K. Traded bought-new '90 Mitsu Galant GSX at 158K and it was much more expensive to maintain. '92 Nissan SE-R traded at 113K was flogged but great fun, and the body and paint fell apart. Seats (leather) are incredibly comfortable. Car is a highway crusier and from Wisconsin has been to Colorado twice, New Mexico three times, Florida twice, Maine once and Mt.Rushmore once, all without incident or special preparation. Mileage could be better but hey, it's a turboBrick and I have only my foot to blame. Liked car so much that we bought a used '94 940T for the kids to drive."

"I got hit by a drunk driver and though his van was smashed, my Volvo only lost a front passenger headlight. I love it, and so does my little girl. I love the trunk room! Got her stroller and toys in there and still have room for tons of groceries and big packages. Oh heck, I got 5 suitcases, LARGE ones in there!"

"This car may not be very stylish but it sure is practical! It has a great turning radius which allows you to do U-Turns in places where other cars can't- despite it's long lenght. It's got tons of room, so if you like carrying around lots of stuff, it will help you out."
