Volvo's XC60 is a new small crossover SUV that competes with other premium entries, like the Acura RDX and Land Rover LR2. Powered by a turbo inline-six-cylinder engine, the XC60 is available with a wealth of safety features like lane departure warning and collision warning.
Exterior
The XC60 is instantly recognizable as a Volvo SUV thanks to its large front grille, which is similar to the one its larger sibling — the XC90 — uses. Despite this similarity, the XC60 is sleeker overall and has unique design cues, like angular, supplementary lights just inside its large headlights.
The XC60's standard wheels measure 18 inches in diameter, but 19-inch wheels are optional. A large sunroof that ps both rows of seats is available, and the XC60 has a sizable 9.1 inches of ground clearance.
Interior
Whereas the XC90 can seat up to seven people with its optional third-row seat, the XC60 is designed to carry a maximum of five people in two rows. The seats can have some rather startling two-tone color combinations, including black and yellow leather. The XC60 also has a slim dashboard control panel, which gives the cabin some aesthetic appeal. The second-row bench seat folds flat to expand the cargo area.
Under the Hood
The XC60 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six-cylinder that produces 281 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque. This engine teams with a six-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive is standard.
Safety
Available features include antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats, side curtain airbags, an electronic stability system with Roll Stability Control, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, collision warning with braking, and a backup camera.
