2013-2015 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid: Recall Alert
Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,100 model-year 2013-15 Volkswagen Jetta Hybrid sedans equipped with DQ200 seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmissions
The Problem: Hairline cracks can develop within the transmission electronic gearbox (mechatronic unit), causing an internal transmission oil leak and a decrease in oil pressure. This can cause the clutch to fail to engage, resulting in a sudden loss of drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.
The Fix: Dealers will update the transmission software for free.
What Owners Should Do: Volkswagen will begin notifying owners Feb. 4. Owners can call VW at 800-893-5298, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
