10 Biggest News Stories of the Week: Loads From L.A.

Arguably the most prominent story in the automotive world over the last week was the commencement of the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, and Cars.com readers took note: Of our most read articles over the past seven days, fully half of them are relevant to the show, which has little in the way of domestic Big Three presence but is compensated for by foreign brands and some big reveals. One of the biggest sits right at the top, too — but it might not be from a body style you’d expect.

Rebuffing the notion that shoppers aren’t interested in sedans, our most read article of the last week concerns a stalwart sedan. The Toyota Camry gets a redesign for the 2025 model year with a front end that draws it away from rivals like the Honda Accord and Kia K5 and pulls it closer to cars on the Toyota showroom floor like the latest Prius and, dare we say it, Supra. Questions remain for us over the Camry’s sole powertrain offering, but until we drive it, we can only say it’s an attractive vehicle for a class that’s more prone to appliances than any kind of automotive enthusiasm. For more on the latest Camry, check out our No. 1 and No. 4 stories of the week — and for more on the latest Prius hybrid and its Prius Prime plug-in hybrid equivalent, follow the link below to the No. 6 story of the week.

Elsewhere on the L.A. show floor, Americans can get their first taste of the new-look 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, which had safety and tech specs revealed for the show. There’s some mental gymnastics required to understand the dimensions of the SUV’s boxier figure, but what’s under the hood is familiar and what it all costs is still to come. For details on what we know so far, follow the link below to our No. 2 story of the week.
