Movers and Losers: June's Top SUVs

You’d think SUVs would have a tough time of it these days with the gas crunch, but there are a lot of fairly large vehicles selling fairly quickly. The luxury SUV market is somewhat healthy as well, as you can see below. The pedestrian utility category is dominated by the new Honda Pilot and other larger crossovers, like the Buick Enclave, Toyota Highlander, Dodge Journey and GMC Acadia. On the loser side, GM’s big SUVs took a solid beating. None come close to this month’s average of 65 days to sell. Luxury SUVs are also listed below.

  • 2009 Subaru Forester: 19 days
  • 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan: 20 days
  • 2008 Buick Enclave: 27 days
  • 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid: 28 days
  • 2008 Honda CR-V: 31 days
  • 2008 Toyota Highlander: 32 days
  • 2009 Dodge Journey: 33 days
  • 2008 GMC Acadia: 34 days 

Top 10 SUV Losers

  • 2008 Mitsubishi Endeavor: 178 days
  • 2008 Hummer H3: 155 days
  • 2008 Dodge Durango: 146 days
  • 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara: 123 days
  • 2008 Suzuki XL7: 122 days
  • 2008 GMC Yukon: 112 days
  • 2008 Chevy TrailBlazer: 112 days
  • 2008 GMC Yukon: 110 days
  • 2008 Ford Taurus X: 106 days
  • 2008 GMC Envoy: 103 days

The top two luxury models are also relatively new, but Lexus has a lot to crow about with three quick sellers, including the aging GX. Although sales were down overall for that model. There’s no real surprise on the loser side, with Hummer and Land Rover overwhelming the list.
