2011 Honda Accord Bumps Mileage
To stay competitive without a redesign, the 2011 Honda Accord has been tweaked with new styling, aerodynamics and a revised transmission to gain fuel economy. However, the gains only come to four-cylinder models equipped with automatic transmissions. That said, the four-cylinder with automatic is the most popular Accord by far. The 2011 Accord goes on sale this August.
Mileage is now 23/34 mpg city/highway, up from 21/31 mpg, putting the Accord back at the top of the pack in terms of mileage. The Hyundai Sonata gets 22/35 mpg.
The V-6 engine remains relatively unchanged but manages to get one additional mpg in highway driving.
The styling gets a modest refresh with new front- and rear-end treatments and new wheels.
Thankfully, the inside gets one minor but welcome ergonomic change, with some air-conditioning controls moved closer to the driver.
A new trim comes to the lineup for 2011, called the SE, which slates above the LX-P trim level and adds leather heated seats with lumbar support and a leather steering wheel. We’re not sure why Honda wouldn’t call it the LX-L trim, like it does with the EX and EX-L.
A USB interface is now standard on all Accord coupes and the EX and EX-L sedans. Previously, it was only available when models were equipped with the optional navigation system.
