2017 Porsche Macan: What's New

Vehicle Overview

Porsche has a new turbocharged four-cylinder version of the 2017 Macan SUV. The new Macan is a base model, slotting below S, Turbo and GTS trims.
ExteriorOutwardly, the new base Macan isn’t all that different from the rest of the lineup. Its window surrounds are in matte black instead of chrome or body color, and it has stainless-steel dual exhaust ports. The rest of the look matches the Macan S, including the front bumper shape and the black side blades.
InteriorIt’s not all that different inside either, with a piano black interior trim package and standard eight-way power seats finished with faux suede inserts. Porsche’s latest multimedia system, the Porsche Communication Management system, as well as a lane departure warning system are standard.
Under the HoodThe biggest changes between the Macan and Macan S come under the hood. The new base model features the same turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that’s been slipped into the 718 Boxster, making 252 horsepower and propelling the Macan from zero to 60 mph in just 6.1 seconds, according to Porsche (when equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package with Launch Control). The only transmission is a standard seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic, mated to a standard all-wheel-drive system. Stop-start technology improves fuel economy. According to Porsche, the base Macan is expected to be rated at 20/25/22 mpg city/highway/combined, up 18 percent from the Macan S’s mileage.
The new Macan is available for order now at Porsche dealers nationwide, with deliveries expected to start in July.
